00:00According to my studies, travel is a useful tool for coping mechanism
00:05because it is a stress and gives you a better way to make a routine.
00:12But for a few years, it's not a good thing to do with the people who are using it
00:16or to go to a place where they are using their personal journey
00:22to get their own personal journey from their own.
00:24Let's go ahead and see what we're doing here.
01:14Good morning, welcome sa Rise and Shine, Pilipinas.
01:16Hello, mingko.
01:17Thanks for joining us.
01:27Ilang buwan?
01:27Seven months po.
01:28Seven months.
01:29Yes po.
01:29Paano mo ginawa yun?
01:30So first po, kasi when I started, January of last year, I was just revisiting like yung different provinces sa
01:36Philippines.
01:37And then all of a sudden, when I was counting na po, parang dumadami na ulit.
01:41Okay.
01:41And then kasi parang I was on 65 na ata before.
01:44Okay.
01:44And then sabi ko, parang one of my travel na nakasama before, na-traveled me, sabi niya, why not do
01:50it again, like recount it again.
01:52Okay.
01:52So I started recounting it, but all of a sudden, parang dumadami na.
01:56And then after seven months, na-visit ko nang eight months, 82 provinces.
01:5982 provinces.
02:00So, parang na magkaroon ng idea yung ating mga ka-RSP, every province, sa loob ng seven months, how long
02:07do you stay in each province?
02:08It depends po.
02:09Sometimes a day or half a day, sometimes a few days.
02:12Depende po kasi sa location ng province.
02:15And you're able to experience yung iba't ibang kultura?
02:17Yes po, like local experience talaga.
02:19That's where I'm up to po talaga, yung local experience.
02:29And we understand this is also part of your healing process.
02:32Yes po, I started traveling when I was young po.
02:35Kasi yung eldest sister ko, she used to travel a lot.
02:37And then 13 years yung got namin.
02:48Alright.
02:48Well, after leaving your job, hindi ka lang natili sa isang lugar.
02:52You started traveling.
02:52And eventually, yun nga, you completed all 82 provinces and 21 countries.
02:57Okay, so aside from 82 provinces, you completed 21 countries and territories.
03:02Paano naging bahagi ng recovery journey mo, yung paglalakbay?
03:05Ano ba yung, if you don't mind sharing, ano ba yung pinagdaanan mo na kailangan mong...
03:09Ah, yes po. So I've been through, nagkaroon po ako ng depression without me knowing.
03:14So I asked for a professional help and not knowing na depression na pala yun.
03:18Kasi very ano po, positive akong tao.
03:21Masayakin ako, I'm very jolly.
03:22And then parang one day, parang nag-click sa mind ko na parang, what's happening?
03:26Parang something is wrong with me.
03:30Kasi I don't know kung ano po talaga yung nangyayari.
03:32And then eventually, I had to leave a job that I enjoy, a life that I created po for a
03:38long time.
03:39Parang it was really heartbreaking for me to leave like something na comfortable ka na eh.
03:43But I know po kasi na traveling is something na I enjoy and I love.
03:47So if I know na magta-travel po ako, magiging masaya ko.
03:49So I chose myself, I quit my job, and I decided to travel full-time po.
03:53Okay, so paano nakatulong?
03:56If you can somehow elaborate more on that.
03:58I'm at may happy as when I travel.
04:00As easy as that po.
04:01Ayun, as simple as that.
04:16help?
04:17Nabanggit mo nga na, alam mo yun, na hindi mo alam.
04:19Yes po, kasi at first talaga, ano, wala po talaga akong idea.
04:23So I really did ask for help po talaga with the professional.
04:26So I had like different sessions po din sa, ano ko, psychiatrist.
04:33Tapos parang, he was very helpful kasi nga po, I had no idea.
04:36Okay.
04:37And then sabi nga niya sa akin, parang healing ko nga daw po, is because, mabilis daw, because I was
04:41really open and I accepted na hindi ako okay.
04:43Okay.
04:44So it was like a really quick na mabilisang healing for me.
04:47Okay.
04:48So, I'm just curious, so, I mean, different people, different cup of tea, iba't iba yung coping mechanism eh.
04:56Yes.
04:56Bakit travel yung napili mo?
04:58I just love to be outside po, adventurous kasi ako.
05:01I love learning.
05:03Parang ano kasi, when you travel kasi you experience everything po.
05:06Tsaka, yung having learning na natutunan mo firsthand when you visit the place, when you meet yung mga locals, you
05:12eat their food.
05:13Iba po yung natutunan mo.
05:14Tsaka iba yung feeling eh.
05:15Okay.
05:15Parang euphoria.
05:16Pero do you advise na, halimbawa, yung ibang tao na, well, they somehow notice na they feel down or medyo
05:25nagpa-plato na yung spark nila sa everyday life.
05:28Do you advise to go travel or seek professional help?
05:31For me, ano, it depends kasi eh.
05:34Okay.
05:34At first, siguro, as for ano, talk to your people, yung mga closest people mo, like your family, your friends.
05:40There's always someone who would understand you, na parang you might think na parang hindi ka nila papakinggan.
05:46Pero papakinggan ka nila eh.
05:47There's always someone.
05:48At saka right now po ngayon, with mental health, madami na pong mga numbers na we can call, like random
05:53strangers, madami na pong mga offices na we can call, like, para if hindi tayo comfortable to open up with
05:58our loved ones, we can open up sa mga strangers para matulungan tayo.
06:03And yung coping mechanism po kasi, traveling for me kasi yung the best way.
06:07Pero kasi madaming ways eh.
06:08There can be sports, there can be music, arts.
06:27I would like you to take this opportunity to give them tips or ano yung mensahe mo sa kanila, lalo
06:35So, siguro for me talaga acceptance.
06:38I mean, I know it's hard to accept it at first.
06:40Mahirap talaga siya.
06:41Pero I always tell myself nga lang po na, before when I was at my darkest time na, yung tunnel
06:47kasi diba, laging madilim yan.
06:49But there's always like a bright sight at the end of the day.
06:51And saka, life is up and down.
06:57Yun.
06:58Parang ang importante po talaga is paano ka babangon after what's been happening to you.
07:02You'll be more appreciative.
07:03Yes.
07:04Sa mga wins mo, pagka yung mas worth it yung success.
07:08Parang yung success mo parang, wow, kinaya ko to.
07:11Yes.
07:11So, yun po talaga na parang it will be okay.
07:13Tsaka, wait ka lang, maging ayosin.
07:16Yun.
07:16Ang ganda nun.
07:17Wait ka lang, maging ayosin.
07:18May mga problema kasi na kayang resolbahin ngayon.
07:21Meron din mga problema ang panahon lang makapagsasabi.
07:24Sometimes it takes a while, diba?
07:26Yes.
07:26Para maging okay.
07:27Well, with that, thank you so much sa pagbibigay sa amin ng inspirasyon, Sir Glenn Gonzalez.
07:32Thank you for joining us.
07:33Thank you po.
