Los medios internacionales ya se han hecho eco de la historia de Rachel

00:00Why I make my videos on the street is because I don't want money to be a limit to creativity.
00:06Yeah, the roads don't look as aesthetically pleasing as people would want it to be,
00:11but creatively, I think setting something that's so high fashion in the setting that it is
00:17gives it a beautiful juxtaposition.
00:25Hi, my name is Ojoromi Rachel. I'm a creative and model from Lagos, Nigeria.
00:30I would say I'm just a girl with big dreams.
00:42I never intended to be a model. I wanted to be a doctor, a neurosurgeon to be specific,
00:47but I thought it was a surface level job.
00:50Somehow we ended up here in the creative space and then I went and studied films.
00:55But learning more about fashion and modeling, I started to realize that the model has such an important job
01:02because you are representing and presenting the thoughts and ideas of an entire team.
01:25My love for thrifted clothes started as a child because I always used to wear thrifted clothes
01:30and now starting these videos is me pulling clothes from my wardrobe
01:35and they'll be making sure they look as good as they can.
01:38So it isn't necessarily a creative decision.
01:41It is us living with the reality of our situation and using what we have to make what we want.
01:46In terms of getting harassed while filming, to be honest, that's never happened to me.
01:52I feel protected by my neighbors.
01:54They're like, oh, that's that kid making her little videos once again.
01:58And I think that really goes a long way.
02:02The influence my mom had on my journey is because she was always selling clothes.
02:06I think I've always been influenced by that.
02:09My mom was on the road to the market when she got in labor with me.
02:13She was going to buy clothes.
02:14I come up with my creative ideas by inspiration.
02:18So when I see something I like or something that resonates with me,
02:22the first thought is how can I communicate this idea
02:25in a way that a six-year-old would understand
02:28but even the most fashion-forward person would understand.
02:31So sometimes it can be really difficult to execute a video.
02:35I'll see you in the next video.
02:36I'll see you in the next video.
02:36Bye-bye.
