00:00Daniel, an Italian Franciscan monk, set off in the 13th century on a perilous mission to Morocco.
00:07Along with six other brothers, Samuel, Angelus, Leo, Hugolin, Nicholas and Domnus,
00:14All animated by an ardent faith, they wanted to share the gospel.
00:19This was not an ordinary tourist trip.
00:22At the time, Morocco was under Muslim rule
00:26and preaching Christianity there was considered an affront.
00:30even a crime punishable by death.
00:33Despite the warnings and obvious dangers, Daniel and his companions did not back down an inch.
00:39Their wings for God were stronger than fear.
00:44Having arrived in Seuilletat, a lively port city,
00:48They began to proclaim their faith with unwavering boldness.
00:52Needless to say, this did not go unnoticed.
00:55They were quickly arrested, imprisoned and ordered to renounce their beliefs and convert.
01:03Refusing outright, they suffered a brutal martyrdom, beheaded for their loyalty to Christ.
01:11It was October 10, 1227.
01:15Today, Daniel and his companions remind us of the incredible power of conviction.
01:21Their story is one of such great love for God that it overcomes all fear.
01:26even that of the most violent death.
01:29It teaches us the courage to affirm our values.
01:32perseverance in the face of adversity
01:35and the crucial importance of living one's faith with radical authenticity.
01:42Their sacrifice was not in vain.
01:44He inspired countless missionaries after them.
01:48and testifies that the gospel can be proclaimed everywhere,
01:52even in the most hostile circumstances.
01:55They are shining examples of missionary zeal
01:58and unwavering loyalty,
02:01lights that continue to shine in the history of the Church.
