What if an ancient army wanted gold—but instead of simply digging, it redesigned an entire landscape?

At Dolaucothi in Wales, Roman miners developed an extensive hydraulic mining system using water channels, tanks and underground workings. Historical evidence shows that water was directed toward the mining areas to remove material and help process gold-bearing ore.

Cadw reports that the system diverted around 14 million litres of water per day.

This wasn't simple digging.

It was ancient engineering on an enormous scale. 🏛️💧
