00:03okay good evening everybody joined here by England captain Harry Kane who become England's joint
00:08all-time record appearance holder for the men's team we do have an interpreter available who's
00:12going to take notes for those who will need translation after but for this period we'll
00:16just keep it short and sharp to English questions if start with Rob there huge congratulations
00:22of all the records and all the milestones you've achieved because we know just what
00:27playing for England means to you is this the most special of them all yeah I think it's right up
00:31there yeah there's so many milestones throughout our career and you know looking back to my England
00:37debut and how much of a dream come true that was I think this is even beyond my wildest dreams
00:42you
00:42know yeah to be joint now at 125 it's just an extreme privilege I love coming to every England
00:49camp I love playing every game and representing the country in the best way possible and yeah
00:55tonight was a special night so as I said before the game the most important thing was the victory
01:00and the win it's not about me it's about the team but to help the team achieve it with a
01:04couple goals
01:05and a good team performance and then finished a week strong it's been a yeah a perfect night for me
01:10typical of you to get two goals and create the other as well but how much did you hate coming
01:14off when you're on a hat trick yeah no it's yeah it's one of those things I think Dom's been
01:20great
01:20all camp as well and obviously he's not had a lot of minutes so I think it's good for him
01:24to get out
01:24there and he deserves it for the way he trained yeah you know me of course I want to play
01:29every
01:29minute possible but it's also about you know making sure everyone's fit everyone's sharp we
01:34have a long season ahead and I think the boss is always courses of that and I think we've used
01:38the squad well in that sense so yeah of course I'd love to have stayed on but ultimately a couple
01:43goals and a 3-0 win is all that matters. Harry congratulations we've been speaking to some
01:49of your coaches in the youth team and academy at Spurs they they all admired your finishing ability
01:54and your hard work going after sessions and doing the extra but they never even they admit they never
01:59really saw you coming this far were you always that determined did you think you'd get to this level
02:03and break these sort of records? I don't know if I thought I'd get to this level I always had
02:07a lot
02:08of self-belief I was always willing to to maybe do more than others and just push myself I think
02:13everyone yeah I guess has a has a ceiling and I combined you know my talent that I had with
02:21a lot
02:21of hard work and self-belief and a lot of dedication and yeah from the moment you know I got
02:26my
02:26opportunity I was able to to take it and and from that moment it was about never letting it go
02:30I think
02:31to reach the highest level on a consistent basis you always got to be hungry you always got to be
02:34striving for more I think sometimes you players or people can reach the top and think it's time to
02:40take the foot off the gas and that's when you see you know players maybe fall for me it's the
02:44opposite
02:44you know when I'm when I'm at the top is to do even more find even more improvement and that's
02:49what
02:49I'm doing right now you know I'm coming off the back of my best season ever as a as a
02:52player and
02:53I've started this season as good as I did last season so I'm in a in a good place and
02:57for me right
02:58now it's just pushing pushing myself and see how far I can get. And if you're talking to young
03:02academy players now is that the advice you'd give to maximize yourself to give to to go the extra
03:08mile as much as you can? I think everyone's situation is different everyone has a different
03:11pathway obviously mine's totally different to maybe some of the other players who are playing
03:15here today but I think ultimately there's always going to be ups and downs along any career there's
03:20always going to be times where you have to believe in yourself where you have to work harder
03:24than others when people ain't watching behind the scenes whether it's practicing finishing or
03:29nutrition or whatever it may be I think um yeah just don't give yourself um any regrets I guess
03:36you know if you do everything and you still don't make it that's life that's just uh the brutal
03:40nature of sport I guess or anything um but give yourself the best opportunity and if you do that
03:46you know you can hold your head up high. Good Sam and Jacob. Harry over here. Your 125 caps have
03:52come in
03:5211 years was Shilton's took 20 and obviously he had a famous rival I think you've only missed 28 games
03:58in in that in that period obviously that's that's a a good record have there been times where you've
04:05sort of just you've just played anyway played through the pain or have you always been 100%?
04:10No for sure there's times I've played through the pain I think every player at some stage plays
04:14through through pain or niggles or some sort of uh some sort of injury I think um you know probably
04:19early on in my England career I missed a few camps with some ankle injuries and um I think the
04:23last
04:24six years or so I've been um extremely consistent in that in that sense and being available and I
04:30think availability is one of the biggest strengths you can have at this level for any coach and um
04:35you guys know how much it means to me to to be here and be with the boys and there's
04:39been camps where
04:39you know sometimes I've not been able to play but I think it's important to to be around and and
04:44you
04:44know I have I guess attributes as well off the pitch that can help you know the team in a
04:50sense
04:50so um yeah I always just think at some stage you know this opportunity ain't going to be here I'm
04:55not going to be around forever and uh I still hope that's a long way away but ultimately um of
04:59course
05:00there's times you're tired or you're you're injured or and but um yeah I know I'll miss it when it's
05:05when it's done so I try and always remind myself that and always trying to make myself available when
05:08possible Jake hi Harry um you just said that everyone has a ceiling do you think that you've
05:15reached yours or is you're just going to go keep getting higher and higher I hope not I hope there's
05:19still more to go um yeah I guess only time dictates that where everyone's ceiling is right now I still
05:26feel like I've got uh room to to improve I just said I'll come off the back of my best
05:30season ever at
05:3132 years old and um right now I feel you know even in a better place and um yeah it
05:38isn't just
05:39about I guess goals and stats either I think it's just all around all around play and all around
05:43leadership and I feel like those qualities for sure uh for sure I've got got better over the last few
05:48years with me and even here with England with the captaincy and I think I've improved in a lot of
05:53assets um off the pitch and um yeah ultimately we just have to to wait and see you know I'm
05:59not going
06:00to stop I'm going to keep pushing and see where it takes me and then you know uh maybe in
06:0410 years
06:05or so we'll see where that ceiling's at Sammy Harry you entered the 90s tonight in terms of your goal
06:11record and we asked you it last week about edging closer to the 100 how much is that now now
06:17you're
06:17in the 90s in your in your mind and in terms of breaking that barrier would that be more to
06:22you
06:22than the 125 caps tonight it's funny I've asked this question by a few of the staff uh before the
06:28game
06:28what would mean more 125 or or the 100 goals and I said the cap record to begin with um
06:35I think just
06:36because you know to represent your country that many times is extreme privilege the 100 goals is
06:42maybe uh a more exclusive club and being a striker I think it would be uh an incredible club to
06:47to be
06:47a part of but um yeah ultimately I don't know uh obviously I'm getting closer to the 100 now and
06:53and it's there being in the 90s and um I try not to think about it too much and it's
06:57like I guess
06:58being a cricketer in the 90s I think the more you think about the 100 you uh don't always get
07:02there
07:02but um yeah that's where I'm at I think if I think too far ahead it sometimes it's harder to
07:07achieve
07:07I'm just going with the flow right now I'm in a fantastic place you know before this camp I thought
07:12it was an important camp for for us and me to uh keep the momentum from a lot of the
07:16good stuff we've
07:16done in the world cup to start um you know a new narrative and to start um with a with
07:21a good
07:22campaign and I think we've done that and uh yeah I think that's the most pleasing thing for me
07:27I um with all these records you're setting and getting obviously you're up for another award at
07:33the end of the month as well are you enjoying these moments where it's your name in the spotlight or
07:37is
07:37that something you've had to really get used to does it still jar a little as well um yeah I'm
07:44not too
07:44sure like I'm very comfortable with my with my name being there I think it's a consequence of
07:48doing a lot of good things so I'm proud of the records I achieve I'm proud to be um you
07:53know up for
07:53the awards like the Ballon d'Or without a doubt I think any athlete or any footballer I guess wants
07:59to to be the best person themselves and um yeah I'm doing that right now and then and all these
08:04records and all these um I guess the individual stuff as well is um just representation of uh not just
08:11what you guys see and and what I do on the pitch but also what I do off the pitch
08:14it takes a lot of
08:15dedication and a lot of time and um yeah that's the most pleasing thing when you you get to acknowledge
08:20some of those rewards um I think it's hard in in football especially the way the seasons are now
08:25how quick they come and and go it's like just uh almost like a hamster wheel of just uh so
08:31you have
08:31to try and take the moments in and uh I do try and do that with with the family and
08:35um you know
08:36achievements like this tonight is important to acknowledge it um but yeah before I know it I'll
08:41be playing Oldsburg away on Saturday and and being ready for that so um yeah I think it's important
08:46not to get carried away but for sure um accept that you're doing some some good things and and take
08:51the good energy from it okay we just got time for two more which is Kit and then Simon hi
08:56Harry
08:57congratulations um you said you're coming off the best season of your career we know how many
09:03goals you've scored for England the international goal scoring records 146 do you think that's
09:08something you could be capable of chasing down again that's maybe the seeding where we're talking
09:13about we'll see how far we can get um yeah what's that number 50 50 odd goals you know it's
09:19an awful
09:20long way away right now but um who knows you know I'm in I'm in great shape I've said before
09:24about
09:25some of the players who have played well into their late 30s and still at the highest level and even
09:3040s now so um yeah as always you know it's season by season with me as long as I feel
09:35like I can help
09:36the team and be valuable for the team I'll be around you know the moment I feel like I can't
09:40help
09:41the team I won't and and that's just the way I am so um yeah we'll have to see let's
09:46see if we can get
09:46to 100 first and then uh we'll go from there thanks hi Harry congratulations when we spoke to you
09:52before the camp you were saying about you were you were thinking about why English footballers don't get
09:57to 160 170 180 kind of caps is that the kind of ceiling that you're looking for here and also
10:03all of these individual accolades are incredible but would you swap it all for that for that silver
10:07wear with England oh yeah for sure without without a doubt I think I made it clear from early in
10:12my
10:12England career to win a trophy of England it would be the biggest honor of of my career and any
10:16of our
10:17career has been too long since we we've won it and um yeah I think the fact that we've been
10:22extremely
10:22close over this recent period has made it uh even more of a target and and made us want to
10:27taste it
10:28even more so for sure I'd swap all of that to to win something with um with England um and
10:35then what
10:35was the first part of your question yeah um yeah I guess that's a longer conversation um another day
10:45maybe about you know maybe why you know England England players don't quite reach um the higher
10:51caps and you know play for for a longer time um could be many different factors maybe I'll leave
10:57you guys to to try and figure that one out but um yeah it's an interesting topic because I feel
11:01like
11:02when when some of the players we've had some of the greats we've had um for them not to maybe
11:07uh been
11:07around even longer uh it's a shame I guess for for us as a national national team but um yeah
11:14maybe you
11:14know with the way we're doing with the improvements we've made and and the records in in uh you know
11:19our major tournament history recently has helped you know rack up the caps and um you know you've got
11:23obviously me equaling it tonight but I think Pix is in the 90s I think Jude's in the 60s already
11:30and
11:30um Dirk and other boys who are you know really high up there and um yeah maybe that's a bit
11:36on what I
11:36said earlier everyone wants to to be here and wants to be in the squad in the team and um
11:41that's a good
11:42competition to have thanks for lending there cheers guys thank you
11:45you
