00:09Today, we're celebrating the 45th anniversary of the San Francisco Lowrider Council, which started because then, in the late 70s
00:22and early 80s, the police started cracking down on us.
00:26Went and let us cruise. I got arrested 113 times. Got beat up 33 times by the San Francisco Police
00:35Department.
00:36And so we organized all the lowrider clubs and solo riders and created the San Francisco Lowrider Council to address
00:46the discrimination and the injustice that was going on in terms of us being able to cruise.
00:57Every element of the automobile, right, it's a piece of art from the steering wheel that's custom made to, you
01:06know, then the hydraulics, right? So the hydraulics, depending on what kind of hydraulic system you want.
01:22It's a great thing right now. I mean, the culture has changed. Everybody understands what a lowrider is. It's not
01:27about being a gangbanger. It's about driving low, being seen, and going slow. I mean, that's what we do. We
01:33don't go fast. We don't do side shows or any of that. We go slow so people can see us,
01:38see our art that we put together here because it does take time and money to put these cars together.
01:50I enjoy the culture. I enjoy the culture. I enjoy cruising. It's my favorite thing to do is cruising. And
01:55I enjoy listening to music. And I just enjoy, like, things from the past. I have old soul.
02:10I enjoy the culture!
02:10Gracias.
