Transcript
00:00Welcome back to Melbourne Park. Thanks for your company.
00:02We've now been given this exclusive peek this morning at a brand new Stan docuseries.
00:06It actually is unprecedented access to the Wallabies and coach Eddie Jones
00:10ahead of last year's Rugby World Cup in Paris. Check it out.
00:14Just nice and close, boys.
00:18So one of the great things about this team is that you really care about each other.
00:23Like, I could see when Taniello got injured, people cared about him.
00:27But the only thing you've got to care about now is the team.
00:31What a time it was, hey? And joining us now with more...
00:33What a time it was, Jane.
00:35..it stars, Andrew Kellaway and Tonella Tupou.
00:38Good morning to you both.
00:40We will get to that docuseries in a very moment,
00:42but first we know the Wallabies have just announced
00:44that New Zealander Joe Schmidt will take over as coach.
00:48Andrew, what are your thoughts on the new leadership?
00:50Yeah, it's exciting, right?
00:51I think new coach brings a whole host of things,
00:54and for us, after, you know, an interesting 12 months just passed,
00:59I think it's a really...
01:02..it's a breath of fresh air for us.
01:03It's exciting and I think it'll, yeah,
01:06hopefully push us in the right direction
01:07because we're not where we want to be at the moment.
01:09Well, speaking about the future and what lies ahead,
01:11you've got a busy schedule,
01:12so is this sort of like the circuit breaker you need
01:15just to make a fresh start?
01:16Well, I certainly hope so. I certainly hope so.
01:18As I said, we're all really disappointed
01:19with how the last sort of 12 months shaped up for us
01:22and I think, you know, amongst other things,
01:24the new coach is a really positive push
01:27in the right direction.
01:28Tonella, you just made the move to Melbourne
01:29to join the Rebels.
01:31What's the transition been like for you so far?
01:33Well, it's been good.
01:36I was a bit worried at the start.
01:38You know, didn't know much about Melbourne,
01:40but now me and my partner, we've been enjoying it.
01:43There's a lot of things to do here.
01:45You know, children open.
01:47Good food, good coffee, great weather.
01:50The weather's a bit different to Tonga.
01:53I don't know.
01:53I haven't been to the beach.
01:56Apparently, yeah, too far from here.
01:57But, nah, it's been good, man.
01:59Loving it and can't wait to experience a lot more.
02:03What do you hope fans will learn,
02:05will appreciate even watching this Stan docuseries?
02:13Um, well, you know, again, having an idea what, um...
02:18What you went through, the preparation?
02:20Yeah, what you went through, you know, behind the scenes
02:21and before the World Cup and during the World Cup.
02:23And, you know, there was a lot of...
02:26Yeah, there was a lot happening during the World Cup.
02:28Yeah.
02:28You know, the fans were wondering what's going on,
02:30who's doing what.
02:31And, um, yeah, this documentary will explain everything.
02:36Andrew, what was it like?
02:37Yeah, I mean, it was an interesting experience.
02:39You've used that word interesting twice now.
02:41Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:41It's a real coverall at the moment.
02:43I mean, it's cool.
02:44I think on the documentary,
02:45I think what we're going to see is a behind-the-scenes look
02:48at what happened, how it unfolded,
02:50and, you know, maybe some of the things that contributed
02:52to a whole host of different things.
02:54And I think for the players, it's important for a number of reasons.
02:58We want people to see what it was like
02:59and what it is like to be in those environments
03:01because the World Cup's a cool experience, firstly.
03:03But, secondly, we had a unique result,
03:06one that we are not proud of and one we're not happy with.
03:08But, um, as with all things, I think that creates interest.
03:11And on the flip side, we get to see some interesting stuff
03:14around Nella and how he handled his injury.
03:15And we just saw him lying on the ground there on the screen,
03:18which is pretty common for the big five.
03:20Nella, just very quickly, I hear you're a gun tennis player.
03:24Serve-volley kind of guy?
03:26No, no chance.
03:28I'll give it a go.
03:30Guys, thanks so much. Enjoy the tennis.
03:32Thanks, mate.
03:32Appreciate your time.
