00:00I'm going to treat it like an addiction because that's what it is and I'm going to say I'm a
00:03week sober
00:04and I'm going to be like I'm two weeks sober and now I think I'm two months sober.
00:08So lovely to meet you first of all.
00:09You too, you too.
00:10Your character obviously goes by the name Plowman.
00:12Very quickly, is cow plowing like as hard as it looks?
00:15When you have an ox that...
00:17Oh, is it an ox?
00:17Yes, an ox.
00:18But it doesn't matter.
00:19When you have an ox that doesn't want to plow in the 1300 style because it's new, it was like
00:28I'm not doing this.
00:29You guys have so much technology now and it was as if he knew.
00:33But I worked with him for like two weeks and I loved him.
00:36His name was Prince.
00:37Very sweet, sweet ox.
00:38Lovely, lovely boy.
00:39Really good boy.
00:41But then when it came time to shoot, he was just like, f*** this.
00:44No, I'm not doing it.
00:45I'm not doing it.
00:46You're not paying me enough.
00:47I don't blame him.
00:48No, I don't blame him either.
00:49We do have the technology.
00:50Yeah, we do.
00:50Poor little thing.
00:51Yeah, no, it's hard.
00:52It's hard to be a plowman in 1381 it turns out.
00:55I can imagine.
00:56I don't want to do it.
00:57It is such an epic action movie.
01:01Like up there, like with the scenes, like you get in Gladiator and Braveheart.
01:05Was it like that for you?
01:06Did it feel like you were doing that kind of movie for you?
01:08Yeah, yeah.
01:08It felt epic.
01:09It felt big.
01:09It felt epic and sweeping in its action and also in its emotion, you know.
01:14It felt like big feelings and big desire and wanting to change the world, you know, revolution.
01:21So it was very exciting.
01:22Is it nice also having somewhere to channel all your frustrations of like the world and
01:28everything into?
01:29100%.
01:29Yeah, 100%.
01:30It was very therapeutic.
01:32And that's the best for me when it comes to making a story.
01:36Is that if it can feel very, very personal, then it can feel very, very healing.
01:40We are similar ages as well.
01:43And I know you are.
01:44Yeah, exactly.
01:46Yeah.
01:47But you are a spy.
01:49You will always be a Spider-Man regardless of whether it's in the past now.
01:52So I know you're used to doing a lot of action and all of this.
01:55But those fight scenes look like a lot.
01:58Like I just getting up from the floor sometimes.
02:00I'm like, oh, my knees hurt.
02:01Like what's it like for you?
02:03It's brutal.
02:04No, it's like I don't.
02:05I need more fish oil in my life or something.
02:08Yeah, knees, joints, lower back, neck, shoulders.
02:13It's all done.
02:14I can tell you though, fish oil doesn't help because I have an addiction to quad liver
02:18oil capsules, which is weird.
02:20But I take a.
02:21Is it helping?
02:22It doesn't help.
02:23It doesn't help.
02:23But you're still popping.
02:24But I have a, listen, I've crunched them for my whole life.
02:27Oh, gosh.
02:28I know.
02:28Sorry, this is really weird.
02:29No, it's all right.
02:30But I really like the taste of them.
02:32So that's why I do it.
02:34Yes.
02:35I've never heard that.
02:35I know.
02:36That's why I've just been single so long because no one want to kiss that.
02:40It seems like maybe you're avoiding something.
02:41It seems like maybe it's a choice that you could, but whatever.
02:44I'm not your therapist.
02:45Maybe.
02:45Maybe.
02:46Good luck to you.
02:48You'll be fine.
02:49And listen, I've heard people talking and they're like, oh, is it got that Robin Hood element?
02:52Has it got, has it, has it hasn't?
02:55Can you just clear that up?
02:56I've obviously seen it, but other people haven't.
02:58I mean, it's a movie that is really about the peasants revolve and it's about a revolution
03:02that these, that ordinary people getting together.
03:05It was the first popular uprising in England.
03:07And it was an attempt to change the world into, into a more fair system and to create dignity
03:15for regular people.
03:16Very, very, feels very, very pertinent to now.
03:19And at that time there was folk stories that were starting to circulate about a kind of imagined
03:24figure, an archetypal outlaw figure called the hood, called Robin of the hood.
03:31Because that's what this was going to be, was it going to be called the hood?
03:33It was originally called the hood.
03:34And so basically it's a fictional folk hero from this era that started to emerge in people's
03:40imagination.
03:41It was, it was in literature and, and it was about basically someone going, you know what?
03:45The world is rigged against ordinary people.
03:47I'm going to take myself out of that world.
03:49I'm going to live as an outlaw in the woods and I'm going to be a part of the change
03:53from
03:53the, the ground up.
03:55Right.
03:55Very, very cool.
03:56Very cool.
03:57And finally, just before I go, I heard that you have managed to get yourself out of doom
04:00scrolling.
04:01How did you do that?
04:02Because I, for now, I'm still doing scrolling a bit, but I'm on like, just like news, Apple
04:07news.
04:08Okay.
04:08It's still not great, but it's not Twitter and it's not Instagram and it's not TikTok
04:13and any of those things.
04:14Like I'm not on social media platforms.
04:16Okay.
04:17It took, what it took was I went to the, I went on a camping trip for a week with
04:21no cell
04:23signal with no technology, with no electricity.
04:25So I was out in the wilderness for a week.
04:28And when I got back to my phone in my car, where, where, where we had parked the cars,
04:34I decided I'm going to stick to this.
04:37It's like I went cold Turkey for six days because it's addiction.
04:40We're all addicted.
04:41It's awful.
04:42It's proper addiction.
04:43So I'm like, okay, I've started this.
04:45I'm going to treat it like an addiction because that's what it is.
04:48And I'm going to say I'm a week sober and I'm going to be like, I'm two weeks sober.
04:52And now I think I'm two months sober.
04:54Well, and it feels really, really honestly, I'm reading, I'm reading books again and I'm
04:59listening to books and I'm listening to podcasts and I'm absorbing stuff.
05:04That's like more.
05:05I know it's like easy to, it's so hard to get off.
05:07Cause it's just like, we're all knackered and everyone's just like, oh God, like we're
05:11all a little bit overwhelmed.
05:13So it's like anything that numbs us out, but I get it.
05:16I'm the same, but like, I'm still finding ways to numb out.
05:19It's just like slightly less, slightly more healthy than what, Twitter.
05:23Oh man, I need to try it.
05:24Cause yeah, I'm exhausted.
05:25Right.
05:25But you're like, it's just an escape.
05:27So you're going to get rid of the cod liver oil.
05:29I don't know if I can do that.
05:30It's not my life.
05:31You do what you want.
05:33I'm not saying you have to.
05:35I'm just saying.
05:35I will try the Dean scrolling.
05:36Listen, 40 something years of eating cod liver oil.
05:39It's an addiction.
05:40That's another addiction that I can't give up yet.
05:43Anyway, lovely.
05:44Nice to meet you too.
05:45All right.
05:46See you.
