00:00These divers are looking at something with almost magical powers. It's seagrass. And yes,
00:06this ordinary looking plant really does a lot. It protects costlines from erosion,
00:10creates habitat for marine life, and helps keep the water clean. And it also captures and stores
00:15CO2 much faster than rainforests do. But seagrass isn't doing well. Since the late 19th century,
00:22we've lost around 30% of seagrass meadows. There are different reasons. One of them,
00:27it's getting too warm down here for this Brentfella. Researchers are trying different ways
00:31to bring it back. In this project, scientists plant seagrass seeds between individual shoots.
00:36This boosts the genetic diversity of the seagrass and helps it better withstand climate change.
00:40And it's working! This meadow, planted back in 2021, now looks like this,
00:45giving our oceans and our planet a little more hope.
