00:10vs.高木慎吾 G1
00:18Climax 32 D-Block 30分 1本勝負
00:31Shingo Tsukagi ko is a tournament interview here on NJPW1972.com
00:38A reference to Yoshihashi, half of the tag team Bishamon
00:43And said well Yoshihashi seems to be a history nerd just like Shingo is
00:49He referenced the battle of Kawanakajima up north in 1561
00:56Uesugi's forces against Takeda
00:59And likened himself to the Takeda Shogun in the face of Uesugi
01:08And it was on that fateful day that Takeda expected Uesugi to be intimidated
01:15And to turn tail and withdraw
01:18But what happened instead that Uesugi snuck up in the cover of darkness
01:24With covers on his horse's hooves to avoid the noise
01:28And instead met Takeda full force
01:32And it was a battle that Takeda just barely won but with a lot of casualties
01:49So Takagi expecting the wolf of Yoshihashi to come out here tonight and expecting victory but expecting it to be
01:58a violent one
02:05And some stats courtesy of our pal Chris Samsa at TheChrisSamsa on Twitter and SportaproWrestling.com
02:11Do not bode well for Yoshihashi in this one
02:16It's his sixth G1, his third consecutive
02:20But Yoshihashi's all-time record in this tournament absolutely stinks
02:24And unfortunately history is what affects Yoshihashi's scoring and overall record
02:34More than any other factor you can never argue with the fact that Yoshihashi third worst all-time
02:4013 wins and 32 losses in this tournament
02:43But recent history might say Yoshihashi will fare better than expected
02:51While the results have not been there in the past few years
02:55Certainly a great deal of tag team success, six-man tag team success
02:59This is a much different, much more confident Yoshihashi
03:04Stepping in tonight against the former world champion Shinko Takagi, Chris
03:08Look at the man that came in in 2020 to start this three-year consecutive run
03:14Yes, he went 2-7 that year
03:17But he came into the tournament as never openweight six-man champion for the first time
03:23And wrestled with a newfound confidence sense of presence
03:26In 2021, yes, he went 3-6
03:30But went on by the end of that year to win World Tag League with Iroki Goto
03:34Won the IWGP Tag Team Championships
03:38So, Yoshihashi thinks 3-2-1
03:41Now is the time to lift off his singles goals
03:45And we'll see if he can get it started here against Shingo Takagi
03:48By the way, only Chris Charlton, proving why he's the best in the business
03:51Can go back to 15-61 to get you set for this D-block match
04:06And while Yoshihashi has had tag success
04:09Shingo Takagi has had overall success
04:12Plus 29 fall differential
04:15Winning falls versus losing falls
04:17Shingo Takagi is the best this calendar year in New Japan Pro Wrestling
04:24First time they're meeting one-on-one here
04:26But more similarities than you might think
04:28Yoshihashi and Shingo Takagi
04:30Both products of the Hamaguchi gym
04:32Before they came into New Japan Pro Wrestling
04:35Obviously, Shingo took the circuitous route through Dragon Gate
04:39Yoshihashi toyed with taking a different path
04:42Failed the tryouts for New Japan multiple times
04:48But he never gave up
04:49And that's why he is where he is today
04:51Call an elbow tie-up
04:53And there was some good-natured pointing from Shingo towards Yoshihashi
04:59In comparison to moveset, Chris
05:02Yeah, sort of, Yoshihashi came up with karma really independently
05:08While Shingo was making the made in Japan very famous
05:12And he said, well, they're pretty much the same move
05:15I've never taken my own move before
05:17So I'm intrigued to know what it feels like
05:26You notice Shingo threw Yoshihashi off
05:29Knowing full well that Yoshihashi would then meet him in the center
05:34Collision of shoulders, now they trade Bourne
05:36It's a game right now that's being played of
05:39Let me show you how tough I am
05:42While I take your best shot
05:48Put the brakes on
05:50Yoshihashi one of the most underrated hardest hitters
05:54In New Japan Pro Wrestling
05:55Shingo's gonna feel that
05:57With that pair of boots sending him to the guardrail
06:02Yoshihashi, when he has success
06:04He's striking in multiples
06:07Chops and kicks and flying around
06:09Moving and grooving
06:15And it's almost like a situation like this
06:17You have to be your own tag team partner
06:23Shoulder first into the ring post
06:31And that shows the vast difference in tag team matches
06:35Versus singles matches
06:37The success and victories that Yoshihashi has had
06:39Unable to get them
06:41So far historically
06:43In this singles tournament
06:46Notice how Shingo has the bottom rope grapevine
06:48That prevents Yoshihashi from being able to bring him in the hard way
06:53Blocks the chop
06:56Oh now he's gonna try and snap the arm
06:59That's his choppin arm
07:04And low bridge smart strategy there from Shingo
07:07Patience
07:09Patience pays off
07:11Patience pays off
07:12For the current KOPW 2022 provisional champion
07:17Shingo Takagi
07:19Has felt both the pleasure and the pain of starting a tournament early in Ota
07:28Beat Kazuchiko Okada right here
07:30First round of the New Japan Cup
07:31Couple years ago
07:33Watch out right in front of Mickey Matoi
07:36And then last year was submitted by Zack Sabre Jr. right here in the G1
07:41Different pressure on Shingo last year coming in as the world champion
07:48And now commanding the crowd
07:52That's a little bit too much silence and they respond right on cue
07:58I've heard from several competitors in this tournament mostly the foreigners
08:02That it is a little difficult to get things going
08:05In a tournament this important with the crowd so quiet restricted from making audible noise
08:11No screaming and shouting
08:13We were hopeful of getting there before the G1 such is not the case
08:18Yeah well we're gonna make those steps and start of September
08:22Couple of special events in Corcoran Hall where we'll hear the fans' voices again
08:26And hopefully we'll keep that momentum going
08:29And I'd love to be in the Tokyo Dome with everybody screaming their heads off next year
08:39Shingo Takagi had the thrill of teaming with Sting at Forbidden Door
08:45A moment he'll never forget getting victory over El Phantasmo
08:49Man that vertical suplex with authority
08:53Yoshihashi's trying to get away from him, couldn't do so
08:55Marty Asami counts too
08:56Yoshihashi able to kick out
08:58And a focus on the right arm
09:00For Shingo
09:01Taking away one of Yoshihashi's best weapons
09:06He really wants to take away that chop, take away that lariat
09:10And also, you know, stop some of that lifting power
09:12For Kumagoroshi
09:14For Karma
09:15Even locking in the butterfly lock
09:18So I mean, I think everything comes from the upper body with Yoshihashi
09:31Yoshihashi trying to prevent Shingo from turning over that wrist lock
09:35Again, the right arm dominant Yoshihashi
09:38Now finds himself
09:41In a cobra twist
09:43Yeah, sort of a different style to the way that Zack Zubin Saber Jr. applied it earlier
09:52Playing more pressure but making it a little bit easier as Yoshihashi does there
09:56To work his way out and hip toss out of it
09:59Driving the double axe handle on the back of the head
10:02Shingo is not giving Yoshihashi an opportunity to breathe or move independently
10:09And in close quarters there are a few better now separates
10:12And Yoshihashi makes him pay with the drop kick to the knee
10:21So calculated risk from Shingo Takagi to let go of Yoshihashi
10:28Turned into misfortune
10:29With Yoshihashi the timely drop kick to the left knee of Shingo Takagi
10:35And now we'll see, you're seeing the difference between
10:38A singles wrestler and a tag team wrestler in this tournament
10:41Usually Yoshihashi in that situation would reach out and touch Hiroki Goto to take over
10:47Now he's got to rely on himself, get his win back and start striking in multiples
10:51Shaking that right arm and we'll see
10:59And then snap on those chops
11:01And the neck breaker
11:05Head hunter scores
11:12Starting to feel it get the crowd on his side as well
11:15C'est parti, c'est parti !

16:56C'est parti !
16:56C'est parti !
16:57I don't think it's long for this match.
17:03Alas, the dragon would seal it, but hang on a second.
17:06Backstabber there.
17:12An offensive move, but most importantly, Chris,
17:15it buys Yoshihashi a little bit of time.
17:18Yeah, and also the work that Shingo did on the front end of that arm
17:22using his knees
17:26to create some distance, create some time.
17:29Trying to shake the cobwebs out here.
17:45And now Shingo with rapid fire, a succession of blows.
17:49Yoshihashi's been unable to strike in multiples.
17:53And now Shingo has to answer again.
17:58Here we go.
18:00Pumping Bomber.
18:03The lights are out and it is, no, it's not over.
18:12Yoshihashi must be barely conscious.
18:15A combination of forearms and he just got rocked with Pumping Bomber.
18:38Let's see if Yoshihashi has an answer or if Shingo will put him away.
18:43Up on the shoulders.
18:45Whoa.
18:46He does have an answer.
18:48He had a hell of an answer.
18:54And I wonder, Kevin, whether this Shingo's neck has given him trouble
18:59after that superplex.
19:01The pins and needles were shooting through him, it seems.
19:05And now Yoshihashi dumped him right on top of his head.
19:12And a blindside shot to the back of the head.
19:16Snapping that head forward.
19:19Whiplash effect.
19:21And now let's see if he can whip up Karma.
19:25Here we go.
19:31Rolls away.
19:49Straight right hands.
19:53Headbutt.
19:54Oh, and one from Shingo.
19:56Dropped Yoshihashi like a stone.
19:59It's one of the hardest hitters in this company.
20:03Dons with Love brought them here tonight.
20:05Shingo definitely having problems with his neck.
20:08Let's see if it affects.
20:10Swing.
20:11Oh, it's right in.
20:12Karma!
20:13Karma!
20:14Karma!
20:15Can't follow up!
20:16Can't follow up!
20:17Oh, he hit Shingo with Karma.
20:22But so much damage taken.
20:27And his leg is even trapped under Shingo.
20:30Now to the cover.
20:31One, two, and oh!
20:35Precious time lost.
20:37Well, now Shingo Takagi knows exactly what it feels like.
20:41If only Yoshihashi could have gotten the body on body.
21:07And now Yoshihashi using those lefts and rights.
21:12And now Yoshihashi using those lefts and rights.
21:13Ricocheting off the draw.
21:14of Shingo Takagi.
21:16Can he keep that distance?
21:21The swift flies.
21:24Shingo doesn't go down.
21:25Oh, he does now!
21:28Yoshihashi feeling it.
21:30Now striking in combination.
21:33Now being his own tag team partner.
21:36Can he destroy her?
21:39No.
21:40Pedigree?
21:41No.
21:41Oh, he got it!
21:44Oh, man!
21:45Third effort finally delivers.
21:48I just got it!
21:48I love it!
21:55Are you kidding?
21:56Kidding me?
21:57Kimorgoshi!
21:58Got it!
21:59Yoshihashi got it!
22:00Now he'll make the cover!
22:02This is good!
22:03One, two, no!
22:09Ote is roaring!
22:12Stopping the floor fervently!
22:24Yoshihashi!
22:25Oh, he won't get it!
22:27I thought Shingo went down!
22:28He did not!
22:33Qu'est-ce qu'il y a ?
22:34Kamo again, il va y aller !
22:38Oh ! Ground Cobra !
22:40Ground Cobra !
22:42Wow !
23:10Yeah, talk about being pushed to the brink !
23:15Shingo Takagi !
23:18If it wasn't for that Ground Cobra that he came up with when he was
23:23going through those wars with Taichi,
23:27he would have been lost.
23:30That's a move something like that Yoshihashi needs to have.
23:38Because after hitting Karma once,
23:43getting oh so close, Kumagoroshi
23:47sometimes just shoot the half and throw the guy down on his shoulders and
23:52hope for the best and that's all Shingo could do.
23:58So after the frustrating defeat at the hands of Deuce Robinson,
24:03Shingo bouncing back for his first victory and his first two points.
24:08Now this year's G1 Climax Tournament,
24:12hard fought and then some, a win over Yoshihashi.
24:19I felt early that Shingo had done
24:23such a good job of staying close to Yoshihashi,
24:26couldn't fire away multiples,
24:28only had the one flurry right at the end.
24:32But Shingo outsmarting Yoshihashi to get the victory.
24:36It doesn't matter, Chris, how you get the points,
24:38as long as you get them.
24:42Shingo Takagi's feeling that for sure he's going to have to make
24:49every use he can out of the weak gap he has before David Finlay next week in Aichi.
24:58Yoshihashi's got a nine-day break before Deuce Robinson.
25:01So, thank you.
