00:22A shocking mid-air attack nearly turned a fly Dubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv
00:29into a disaster. On September 30, flight FZ-1073 was flying over Saudi Arabia when a violent
00:38confrontation erupted inside the cockpit. According to the UAE Attorney General, the co-pilot
00:45attacked the captain with the aircraft's emergency crash axe and attempted to take control of the
00:52flight controls. The UAE has now officially described the incident as an attempted terrorist
00:58act. Investigators are still examining the motive, the circumstances, and whether anyone else was
01:05involved. The aircraft was carrying more than 170 people, most of them Israeli passengers. During the
01:14struggle, the aircraft reportedly went into a dramatic descent, losing more than 16,000 feet
01:21in a very short period. The captain, Indian National Smit Machar, was seriously injured. But despite his
01:29injuries, he managed to open the cockpit door, allowing crew members and passengers to intervene.
01:35A reserve pilot who was traveling on the aircraft also helped regain control of the situation. The
01:42plane was diverted and made an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia. Everyone
01:50survived. The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has praised Captain Machar, the crew, and passengers for
01:58their response, saying their intervention helped prevent more serious consequences. The captain has since
02:05returned safely to the UAE and is receiving medical treatment. The incident has also raised questions
02:12about the co-pilot's background. Several reports have identified him as an Omani national and described
02:19previous concerns surrounding his suitability to fly. However, investigators are still examining the full
02:26circumstances, and claims about his motives or possible extremist links should be distinguished from what
02:33authorities have formally established. What is now officially confirmed is that the UAE investigation found
02:41that the co-pilot attacked the captain with a crash axe and attempted to seize control of the aircraft.
02:48Authorities are examining physical and digital evidence as they investigate the incident and any
02:54possible connections. The UAE Attorney General has said the final findings will be announced once the
03:01investigation is complete. For the passengers aboard FZ 1073, what began as a routine flight from Dubai to
03:10Tel Aviv suddenly became a fight for control at 30,000 feet. The captain was injured, the aircraft plunged
03:18thousands of feet, and passengers and crew were forced to intervene inside the cockpit. But the plane ultimately
03:26landed safely in Saudi Arabia. Now, investigators face the most important unanswered questions. Why did the
03:34co-pilot launch the attack? Was it planned? And was anyone else connected to it? Those answers remain under investigation.
