The Netherlands has seen several recent demonstrations over immigration and asylum policies. On September 19, around 500 protesters gathered in The Hague, where clashes with police led to arrests, fireworks being thrown and the use of water cannon.
More recently, an unannounced demonstration followed a municipal decision on asylum-seeker housing in Rhenen, where fireworks were used to smash town-hall windows and riot police were deployed.
