00:00Okay, so if you've ever wondered why some CDs cost more than a fancy dinner, this list is for you,
00:05I went down the audiophile rabbit hole and found the best deals for the top 5 audiophile CD
00:09pressings for collectors, and honestly, a couple of these are stupidly cheap for what they do to
00:13your speakers. First up, the limited numbered audiophile vocal test CD. This is basically a
00:20demo disc disguised as a collection male and female vocal reference tracks that make your
00:25system confess all its sins. It's numbered, so it's a genuine collectible, and with almost 5,000 sold
00:31at $15.96, people clearly aren't sending it back. If you want one disc to test whether your setup is
00:39actually good, start here. Next, Ben Webster's My Romance. This one's for the jazz heads, a saxophone
00:46test disc that's as warm as a blanket, and it's got a 4.9 rating with over 4,700 copies
00:52sold,
00:52which in audiophile terms is basically a standing ovation. At $16.44, you're paying less than a
00:59decent lunch for some of the smoothest tenor sax ever pressed. If you like your late night listening
01:05with a little smoke in it, grab this. Then there's Diana Krall's When I Look In Your Eyes on SHMCD.
01:12Grammy-winning album, super high material disc, and her voice sits in the room like she's on your couch,
01:17it's a classic reference vocal jazz pick. It's $16.99 and it's in stock, which matters because
01:24SHM pressings tend to vanish. With 4,400 plus sold, it's not the highest rated on this list,
01:30but it's the one your non-audiophile friends will actually ask you to play again.
01:35Now, the Japanese jazz trio CD Misty, Midnight Sugar, Falling in Love with Love,
01:40and this one has a perfect 5-star rating. It's the definition of laid-back,
01:45the kind of record you put on after a long day when you want the room to slow down with
01:49you.
01:49At $16.13, it's the cheapest way to make your system sound like a Tokyo jazz bar at 2am.
01:56Over 4,100 sold, and I get why.
02:00And number 5, Carrie Brems, Norwegian Mood, A Lover in Berlin.
02:05This is the Audiophile Secret Handshake, KKV label, HDCD, brand new and sealed,
02:10and supposedly recommended by the Bible of audiophile references.
02:14Her voice is haunting, the recording is absurdly clean, and it's only $15.45,
02:20the lowest price on this entire list, with a perfect 5-star rating.
02:24If you only take one gamble from this video, make it this one.
02:29So yeah, links to all 5 are in the description, prices are current as of filming,
02:33and if this helped you, hit like and subscribe because I've got more of these nerdy deep dives coming.
02:38Happy listening!
