00:00So, before this video of Captain Smith Machar explaining what exactly happened,
00:05there was another video that did go viral after everyone wanted to know who is this captain, what happened.
00:10That video, which coincidentally was a podcast talking about the aviation industry, life as a pilot,
00:16was on the podcast of one young podcast, Zalak Mehta.
00:20I spoke with her a short while ago about her video going viral now
00:23and what he mentions about if there's ever a disaster, how important is the crew?
00:28A question that was otherwise a normal, usual question that was asked to a pilot.
00:34In times like these, it became the question everyone wanted to hear and see the answer to.
00:40Here's more.
00:42In that video, the one statement that everyone's talking about is when he said,
00:46if there's ever a situation on a plane like this, it's the crew that comes to your rescue.
00:51Always respect the crew, pilots and of course the air hostess.
00:56Do you think that is, call it coincidence, call it destiny, that he became that hero himself in a situation
01:03like this?
01:05Absolutely.
01:07What he mentioned was also correct.
01:09I mean, and at the same time, not only the crew, the crew of course is at the rescue of
01:16the passengers.
01:18Along with that, he had mentioned that when the doctors are present, you know, on board, how helpful they are
01:25because he had given one or two experiences that he had had on his flight about one pregnant lady giving
01:32birth
01:32and one passenger with shortness of breath.
01:36And I think he has always been someone who has, you know, looked after the safety of his passengers
01:45and that is something that he really stood up to, along with the crew and the doctors.
01:51What was your sense of Captain Smith, Machir, when you were doing that interview about him as a person,
01:57as a professional, as a pilot, while he was talking about his passion that is flying?
02:04Accordingly, I mean, honestly, while interviewing him or after that, what really stayed with me was his humility.
02:15Despite everything that, you know, he has accomplished, he was extremely grounded and kind
02:21and extremely passionate about what he does, actually.
