00:00See, regarding the medicine, it is my duty to see what's actually going on in every health sector.
00:08So we had the cleanliness, we were running on the cleanliness and the misuse of the five-star hotels, all
00:14the hotels, the other end, the fake drugs.
00:18Second, we want to know when we went to this, concerning the fake drugs issues that said it's taking place,
00:26we came to know that some medicines, which are, the landing price is very less, the rate they sell to
00:36the patients is 56 times more, 100 times more.
00:39Then we made a study, which are, because all drugs are not under the National Pharmacy Pricing Authority Act, we
00:49are left out.
00:50What are within the preview of the law, central government fix the prices with the 16% of the margin,
00:56which is not in this preview of these medicines, company, whatever the price they want, they put.
01:03And whatever the margin also is given to the stockist and the pharmacist, what they want to sell, and the
01:08doctors also.
01:10So who gives them more margin, they are more being popularized by the working people on the down level, because
01:17they get more benefit.
01:18What the patient wants, he doesn't, it will be less.
01:22On that we made a study, we came to know there, some of the tablets which are used, consumed by
01:30the patients, which is the landing cost is 86 rupees, landing cost.
01:34The selling rate is 4,528 rupees, and some are 1,000 rupees, they are sold at 21,670.
01:47See, one more injection, I don't want to tell the name, 5,850 is the rate.
01:55The patient is getting it for 62,690.
02:02Because, if that, they won't tell only one, you have to give 10 injections, 10 injections, the cost is 58
02:08,000, but here it is about 6 lakhs.
02:12So, these are the, so, on many of these items, we have went and verified, and we have given to
02:17the central government, and we have requested also, we have to make a system, the national pricing system, all medicines
02:25should come, and we have given few suggestions also.
02:28And, not only that, the central government should take initiatives in non-scheduled drugs, which the pricing is not fixed.
02:39The prices are not fixed for medical devices and consumables also, like gloves, the, all other injection materials, all medical
02:49equipment.
02:49There are no prices at all, it is also too much, now we are working on that, we are helping
02:56the central government to get the, all this raise, whatever is possible.
03:01Now, our department has gone and inspected, and we are enquiring 768 medical device consumers, we have seized.
03:09We are putting an enquiry, what is this cost, what is the manufacture, what is the landing price, and what
03:16they give, and whether all the qualities are good.
03:19Along with that, there are high, Duba, costly drugs, for major sickness, regarding 189 drugs.
03:28This also, we will be getting the raise, and we will get to the notice of this country, and the
03:32central government also.
03:36Most of these charged medicines are for cancer, also?
03:39See, these are many of, what first we have done is like cancer, some of other things also.
03:43And, but we want to, we, in the future, we want to have this study, and we will send to
03:49the central also.
03:50The anti-retroviral drugs, the higher generation of critical antibiotics, medical devices, hospital consumers having substantial financial implications for the
03:59patient.
04:00Ultimately, our intention is, the patient shouldn't spend more out of the pocket.
04:12Today, if we have got an authority, we can, to check the price list, we could have gone to hospital,
04:19when the bill is too high, what is the room rent, what is the charge of the doctors, what is
04:26the charge of the operations, and what the bill actually should be, and what is being put on the patients
04:32now, where they have to pay extra.
04:35Ultimately, this is, if not today, tomorrow, this is very much necessary, and this is not the only duty of
04:41the, our Karnataka state government, we are the first state in nation, to take this up, and to give the
04:48information to the other state, and other nation, and our nation also.
04:52This is what Supreme Court also, we have welcomed the, our decision given to the Supreme Court also, the other
04:59day, somewhere, something should happen, someone should take this charge.
05:03Is the department initiating any action against such violations?
05:06We don't have any power, no. They don't, they are not controlled on the price list. So, that system, rules
05:12only should be changed, these all should be bought under the scheduled drugs, where the prices are listed by the
05:19government.
05:19Sir, what is the step about the serious drug in the market, sir?
05:23You see, this is our SID is taking care. Once the SID takes care of it, we'll get to the
05:30notice, and action will be taken.
05:32But as you say, this purest drug may be in other places also. So, we want to have a, MOE
05:37is one of the best of the best labs, where we have gotten, we'll have a confidence,
05:42to go and check any of the drug company, any of the pharmacy, any of the hospitals, private, or by
05:49government, take the drugs, send to the lab, we'll get a correct report.
05:54Otherwise, if now they go, they'll tell, we are not only correct.
05:57So, we will work out that, such a lab will be there. Tomorrow, if they go to Supreme Court also,
06:03our report will be correct.
06:04That is our intention.
