00:05in the late first century a church leader named john had an extraordinary vision
00:11his god conversation peeled back the curtains separating the natural world from the spiritual world and brought a powerful message
00:19to the early church so what did john see
00:22the scene revealed a great throne in heaven encircling the throne was a brilliant rainbow and before it a sea
00:30of glass that looked like crystal flashes of lightning and peals of thunder came from the throne and seven lamps
00:38burnt brightly in front of it around the throne were twenty four elders seated on smaller thrones they were robed
00:45in white and wore gold crowns on their heads which they lay before the one who sat on the throne
00:51circling above the scene were four winged creatures one like a lion one like an ox another with the face
00:58of a man and the fourth like an eagle they were all covered with eyes together the elders and creatures
01:05worshipped the one on the throne holy holy lord god almighty who was and is to come this is the
01:13throne room of heaven
01:14the seat of god's government john's attention is turned towards the right hand of the one on the throne
01:21in his hand is a scroll sealed with seven seals but who can open it is anyone worthy to open
01:28the scroll
01:29silence fills the room is no one worthy john begins to weep there's something incredibly important written in the scroll
01:38some key to god's rule some key to god's rule the answer to their questions someone must be found
01:44john hears a shout from one of the elders we've found someone what a relief finally someone is found worthy
01:53but who is it it's the lion of the tribe of judah returns the elder the lion of the tribe
02:01of judah
02:02the promised one the long-awaited messiah some powerful and ferocious leader who will carry us
02:10through but what is it it's a lamb so fragile and weak it looks like it's been slain
02:17but huh this lamb is very strange it has seven eyes and seven horns suddenly the throne room erupts
02:26into song the elders play their harps the winged creatures bow down and thousands of angels join
02:33the chorus worthy is the lamb that was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
02:39and honor and glory and praise what an incredible vision today we find it recorded in the early
02:46chapters of the book of revelation this book is full of visions but this one of heaven's government
02:52is key because it lays the foundation for all the others john wrote the visions down and then passed
02:59them on to seven churches in asia minor the visions spoke a profound message to them and they still speak
