04:47A strong contrast between the colours helps the design stand out and makes the letters easier to read.

05:17One other side of Berlin
05:19is another historic building
05:21that's been transformed into a
05:23boutique hotel.
05:25Once a woman's prison
05:26it held political prisoners
05:28during World War II.
05:30I'm staying here while in the city
05:33and I'm curious to see
05:34how much of the original building
05:36has been preserved.
05:38It's more than a hundred years old
05:41everything here so it's a lot of history.

05:55And it really is just so fascinating to see the architecture and it does take you back in time staying

08:05rebuild it and it looks like this now there's something relaxing about being out on the water
08:13even when you're pedaling and with sunny weather like this i'm in no hurry to head back
08:22berlin is a city of different neighborhoods each with its own character with so much
08:29to see it's the idol city to discover by bike i've seen so many people cycling around berlin this
08:35is the way to get around for sure if you ask me it definitely is of course not everyone agrees

08:42it but generally berlin is pretty flat we got pretty wide streets and in the last couple of years they
08:50built a lot of cycling infrastructure so bike lanes bike path and it's getting more and more we set off
08:57cycling through berlin's leafy streets taking in the city along the way our first stop is a park with
09:05a divided past so we're in mauer park which translate to the wall park because uh all that that's on
09:14the
09:14right here used to be part of what's mostly called no man's land so the space between the two walls
09:21was
09:22turned into a park about 20 years ago and it's a place where you get a lot of like tourists
09:28and
09:29locals meet exploring by bike gives us the freedom to enjoy the park and stop whenever something catches
09:36our eye nearby is a protestant church closely linked to east germany's opposition movement in the 1980s
09:47this is zions kirche this was one of the central meeting places and one of the reasons why the
09:56the protestant churches played such a big role in this opposition was that the state had limited access
10:02to it so the official police couldn't access this this whole area not even getting to the church
10:11the church is remembered as one of the places that helped bring about the fall of the berlin wall
10:18we continue cycling through berlin's streets eventually reaching another green space
10:25this is a volkspark friedrichshain the the people's park of friedrichshain one of the
10:30oldest and and biggest park in the in the central city opened in 1848 the park is home to several
10:39historic monuments including one from east germany like other formerly communist cities berlin was full
10:48of these grandiose monuments most of them have been demolished but they kept that one
10:54because it is not just about socialist or communist people but generally for the german
11:01fighters that fought on the side of the republic in the spanish civil war exploring berlin by bike
11:08has really made me feel part of the city i'm leaving feeling more confident to try new things
11:15and noticing creativity in places i might have overlooked to finish my time in berlin
11:23there's no better way to see the city than from above with an incredible 360 degree view
11:34some restaurants really do include an experience and turning around berlin is something quite
11:40incredible from the city's street art and its river views to its fascinating history berlin is a place
11:49that leaves you wanting to discover more but now time for my next adventure
