00:02ANIMA CIROS, the grand celebration of animation, took place for the 19th consecutive year in Eremopoli CIROS in Greece.
00:10With a richer program than ever, Greece's largest international animation festival and one of the top 20 of its kind

00:17brought together more than 280 films by established and emerging filmmakers from 50 countries.
00:22I think that it has become a most important part of the new projects in the MESOGIEO and in our

00:30It gives a great emphasis on the development of the Greek talent and European talent in all the world,
00:35and also on the development of new technologies and technologies in the field of animation,
00:39which I think is the key for a future for the optical-acoustic and for the European animation.
00:47One of the most notable guests at this year's event was the internationally recognized award-winning sound designer Olivier Calvert.
00:54With her long career and collaborations with leading directors and organizations,
00:58the Canadian artist has shaped the soundscapes of numerous distinguished productions.
01:03Sound design is shaping the whole sound of a film.
01:06So you can work with ambiences.
01:08It can be naturalistic, like the birds, the traffic sounds, the sea waves,
01:13but it can go subliminal.
01:16You can really put tension in a scene.
01:19Live-action film, you create sound for a naturalistic environment first.
01:24Animation is all design, all a new world, so why the sound needs to be real, naturalistic.
01:33We don't need the sound to be realistic in an animated film.
01:36So yes, we can create really a totally different world, a world of its own, an old universe to discover.
01:43This year's festival opened with the film Decorado by Goya award-winning Spanish filmmaker Alberto Vázquez
01:49with the support of the Spanish Embassy in Greece and the Instituto Cervantes.
01:53The film is reminiscent of the Truman Show in animated form.
01:58The film is also about how the society or the corporations especially try to dishumanize people.
02:09So the story is about a man without work who feels like everything is strange to him
02:17and he doesn't feel it's reality because it doesn't relate to him.
02:22We try to work from these characters and this kind of environment, but making strange combinations of colors.
02:29So at the end the people feel like this is a nightmare, it's not a dream.
