00:00Good evening students. Today while I was addressing few student representatives in my office,
00:05I thought why not reach out to each one of you and talk to you about what had happened,
00:12this unfortunate thing that had happened in the campus on Saturday and Sunday too.
00:21With a heavy heart I just want to say that the kind of trust and relationship LPU and the student
00:28community shares is very, very different and exemplary. I don't think that this trust is in a family
00:37and all of you know that we trust each one of you and I believe in the competency of each
00:43one of you.
00:44That is reflected through what you do in the campus. Like we have around 400 student organizations
00:52and the students are present in all different committees in the student clubs, societies,
00:57where you are all participating every day. And if you look at student organization concept only,
01:04you know there are every student organization has around 100 students in it. So around 4000 students
01:09are directly responsible you know to plan and execute all the events in the campus right from
01:16induction to convocation. So I you know LPU believes in your competencies and we stay like a family and
01:24the kind of trust we have on each one of you is is so special and the bond is so
01:30special.
01:31But this what happened was very very unfortunate. The students with so many channels in place like a special division
01:41called Student Relationship and then the RMS is there an online platform and then every head has their meeting schedules
01:49with each one of you and I also have special sessions with you all of you on Tuesday and Friday
01:54all of you are aware of it. And the kind of zero tolerance we have towards all such things. I
01:59mean I was just
02:00I was just I was just thinking that how is it possible that my students did not bring this issue
02:05if they if they were feeling so
02:07why didn't they bring it up to us and
02:10and they just believed in this rumor which was spreading I mean I don't know I felt so heart
02:16I felt so hurt actually. So I feel that
02:19So you believed in this one rumor and then
02:27you know just just completely believed and you know
02:31gathered together and all those things happen and
02:34and
02:34there are some outsiders who joined
02:37most few students and then the way they did in the campus is
02:42completely uncalled for because you know what happened in the campus there there were shops which were
02:47looted and the way the students or the outside people I don't know who they were
02:51they were they were looting things out of the campus and that was I mean it was so painful
02:57specifically for me because I I feel my children how can they go how can they go do like this
03:04so I was hurt and
03:07yes, it's very important for us because we need to be on social media but we cannot be believing social
03:14media blindly
03:15we have to be mature enough to understand
03:18you know what is right and what is wrong
03:20if we don't know that we don't have to be in university then what is the fun of being in
03:24a university
03:24it's not about only knowledge
03:26it is also about what decisions you take for yourself and for people around you
03:31so I think it is very important for all of us to see what is there on the social media
03:38and how do we take it
03:40you know
03:41the students who are looted and all I know you are feeling very unsafe because of them
03:50because if it could happen you know it can happen to us also you must be feeling so
03:54so those who are miscrits and those who have done such a crime
03:59they should action on them
04:00I think the police is also taking a serious note of it
04:03and as a university it's also our responsibility to take care of such wrong people
04:09and at the same time I was very it was very heartening to see why how the few students
04:16they were coming on the social media or they were talking to various students helping the
04:22wrong element to be eliminated and how they were you know pushing the first year students
04:27specially because they were naive and how they were educating them they were coming coming
04:31on the social media and refuting what was wrong prevailing
04:34so I think that is what my children are that is what actual virtuos are supposed to do
04:41so I was very pleased I want to thank each one of you who have supported us in through the
04:46social
04:46media and the way you have stood by your university your family hats off to you and I want to
04:53congratulate each one of you to support and be a stood like a pillar with us in this two
04:59day of crisis and children but I want to appeal in the end I want to appeal each one of
05:05you
05:06because the day before in fact Saturday there was a there was a company which was supposed to come
05:12for all of you and it was very heartening for me to tell them to maybe postpone the drive which
05:18was a
05:18lot of students are going to be affected by that particular drive the postponing that particular drive
05:24so which is very very bad you know it should not have happened but then we had to take this
05:29hard
05:30step so I want to appeal each one of you because this is your career your future your safety is
05:36paramount
05:37to us and I would appeal and urge each one of you to refrain yourself from such a social media
05:43posts
05:44which are you know all over and please apply your own mind and see what is right and wrong for
05:48you
05:49come up to us we are your family come up to us and if you if you have any you
05:53you see clarifications
05:54from us whether this has happened and be a part of us and we can check it out we can
05:59whether we can go
06:00there and see whether it actually happened or not you know I will be with you if you want I
06:05can go
06:06around with you and see I mean as a woman it is my responsibility also for taking care of the
06:11students
06:12and especially the girl child and I think this is my final appeal to each one of you I know
06:18you've
06:19been given this 10 day leave to just feel normal and come back with your especially your midterms
06:26approaching you know after these holidays but I want that each one of you please stay positive
06:31maintain calm and peace of mind is very important for each one of you and also reflect on what had
06:37happened
06:38in these two days and how we can be closely working with LPU for your betterment your future and
06:45which is which is very very important you are the future of India and globe and I would wish each
06:52one of
06:52you but don't worry we are with you and the people who the outsider especially who have been there they
07:01will be taken to task and my students take care of yourself and remain with your families close knit
