00:00Raising, I have a 12, and Olive is 14 now.
00:07I'm seeing these kids, both boys and girls, have too much too soon.
00:13Yes.
00:13And that really harkens back to my own personal downfall of entrusting me as a child
00:21with just too much privilege, freedom, and access when I was too young for it
00:28and didn't know how to handle it.
00:30And I feel that these companies are like, you as the parent can talk with your child.
00:36I am like, this is my worst nightmare.
00:40How do I get out of my own past experience so that I can feel more capable and present myself
00:49also?
00:50But your experience is exactly what I hear in my office every single day from parents.
00:55How do I not just freak the hell out because I'm so freaked out because I hate what's happening to
01:01my kid.
01:01I don't know what to do, but I don't want to interfere because then I'm the bad guy.
01:05And now we're fighting over the very thing that we shouldn't be fighting about.
01:08Well, that's why these books provide a blueprint for, okay, you don't have to attack the technology right away.
01:15Don't focus on the enemy.
01:17Instead, take the child into a deep connection with you, right?
01:22Become that person who is their safe place so they don't go to the AI chatbot or the AI therapist.
01:27Become the person who provides so much connection and entertainment and fun and joy
01:33that they don't have to go and escape into their video game.
01:36But that requires the parent to show up and to feel confident in their influence.
01:42For example, we were able to play and play games over the better mode.
01:42And that's it?
01:42Not all the language in the world.
