00:23You know, you know they do it. Do you want us to continue? You know they're doing this
00:29documentary about Brownsburg. We are in a really interesting place, as you say, being in Lexington,
00:41being here in Rockbridge County. There is so much history. Tell the story in a way that gently broke
00:48the myth that slavery wasn't bad, that there wasn't much slavery here. There was 23.7% of
00:55Rockbridge County where it was enslaved in 1860. Things have changed. A little more traffic.
01:02Well, yeah, there's a lot more traffic. People have different ideas about what Brownsburg has
01:09been and where it should go, and I think a lot of people kind of agree that they want to
01:12keep it
01:12the same. The average farmer, there's not enough profit in what we do. If you can't rent land,
01:17it's hard to purchase land. But you're going to have change. You've got to have change or things
01:22die. It means the world as a black man in this community and in this church. Living in a farming
01:29community, growing the way that we do, we're the oddballs.
01:36What do you think the future of Brownsburg is? I think the future of Brownsburg would be...
01:52is the future of Brownsburg.
01:52What do you think the future of Brownsburg would be the future of Brownsburg?
01:54What do you think the future of Brownsburg?
