Azerbaijan agrees multi-billion-dollar deals with investment giants

Nearly $11 billion (€9.7 billion) worth in contracts have emerged from the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, where some of the world’s biggest investment managers gathered for talks ranging from infrastructure and technology to energy and transport.

00:00Azerbaijan has announced planned investment projects worth billions of dollars.
00:04This follows a series of 23 agreements with international investors at the Azerbaijan
00:09International Investment Forum in Baku.
00:11The agreements cover some of the fastest growing areas of the economy.
00:14The confirmed amount that we can say today is $10.8 billion of 26 contracts that have
00:23been executed in various fields ranging from AI to energy, from manufacturing to production.
00:31And in that sense, that's a figure which we operate as of today.
00:35Azerbaijan's economy minister says the non-oil and gas economy already accounted for 71% of
00:41GDP in 2025, with the government targeting 82% by 2030.
00:46The scale becomes even bigger when combined with projects announced during Baku Energy Week
00:51in June.
00:52Together, planned joint projects announced this year are valued at $16.7 billion.
00:57However, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev said investments into oil and gas were still
01:02the biggest.
01:03The contracts which actually led to development in the oil and gas sector, signed 30 years
01:11ago, still are absolutely untouched.
01:14Not a single word was changed.
01:17And that was one of the factors to attract investors.
01:20So, already we have a very credible portfolio of being a very responsible partner.
01:26Baku is trying to turn investment into a broader economic transformation and strengthen its position
01:31as a business and connectivity hub between Asia and Europe.
