00:05experiencing unseasonably hot weather and thermometers reaching 40 degrees
00:09Celsius in some places. In downtown Lisbon, tourists were surprised on the
00:14first day of fall by temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius. Expecting cooler
00:18weather in September, they had packed clothes suitable for milder weather in
00:23their suitcases. I actually brought a jacket because I thought it would be
00:27cooler and it would be similar to the Canadian fall and autumn like weather
00:32like 21, 23. I told my friend the same thing, pack a jacket. To avoid sun exposure
00:37during the hottest hours of the day there are a few tricks that help these
00:41tourists. It is dry obviously it's nice enough here in the shade in the shops and
00:47stuff but when you're walking out in the sun it can get quite hot. Shade, water, yeah
00:51everything you can really but it's still nice. The Portuguese meteorological
00:57service has issued a heat advisory for some regions of the country and local
01:01authorities have also warned of a high risk of wildfires in some inland regions.
01:06Temperatures are expected to drop slightly starting next week.
