Ranchi: For ten months, 30 engineering students at BIT Mesra, Ranchi, designed, built and tested a race car with one goal that was to take it to the national stage. That opportunity came at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. Competing against nearly 80 teams from across India at Supra SAE-2026, BIT Mesra's Team Srijan finished as the All-India Runner-Up in the Computer-Aided Engineering event. Aryan Kumar, a student of Mechanical Engineering at BIT Mesra, said, "It took around a year to build this car. It involved a lot of hard work. Designing the car took considerable time, and we also faced several challenges during manufacturing. We faced many challenges both here and at SUPRA, but we managed to solve them. Our team has a lot of talented people." But the real race had begun months before they reached the track. The team began with a virtual machine, designing and simulating the car before bringing those ideas into the workshop. Then came the hard part: fabricating the metal frame, integrating the engine and manufacturing components, including parts created through 3D printing. Months of designing, building and testing eventually came down to one crucial moment in Noida. The car cleared technical inspection on its very first attempt. A race car may have been the final product, but the real journey happened long before it reached the track. For Team Srijan, months of ideas, calculations, fabrication and testing have now translated into a national podium finish.

00:10While campuses across the country were slowing down for the summer break, inside a workshop in Ranchi, the work was
00:18only getting more intense.
00:19For 10 months, 30 engineering students at BIT Mesra designed, built and tested a race car with one goal, to
00:29take it to the national stage.
00:32That opportunity came at the Budh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
00:36Competing against nearly 80 teams from across India at Supra SAE 2026, BIT Mesra's Team Sreejan finished as the All
00:48India runner-up in the computer-aided engineering event.
00:51This car was a year-old, we had a lot of effort, we had a lot of effort, we had
01:05time and time, manufacturing, and we had a lot of effort.
01:09We had a lot of effort on the Supera, we had a lot of effort on the Supera, but we
01:17had a lot of effort on it.
01:19We had a lot of effort on our team, we had a lot of effort on it, we had a
01:22lot of effort on it.
01:23We had a lot of effort on it, we had a lot of effort on it.
01:26But the real race had begun months before they had reached the track.
01:31The team began with a virtual machine, designing and simulating the car before bringing those ideas into the workshop.
01:38Then came the hard part, fabricating the metal frame, integrating the engine and manufacturing components, including parts created through 3D
01:49printing.
01:50Months of designing, building and testing eventually came down to one crucial moment in Noida.
01:57The car cleared technical inspection on its very first attempt.
02:02The team is now complete.
02:05We are following the process of the whole team.
02:08The team is divided into the start divisions.
02:11We have recruited every year, every year, every year.
02:13We have the best people who have selected them.
02:15We also have the same knowledge of the team.
02:18When we wait for the summer, we care.
02:20We have the same team as we have worked on it.
02:22It was a great experience.
02:23We have worked on it for the whole year.
02:26The college was full of support.
02:28We are just here to keep our dreams on it.
02:31When we were lucky, it was a great experience.
02:35We were in front of the whole crowd.
02:37We were in front of the whole team.
02:39We were in front of the college and the team.
02:41It was a great feeling.
02:43When we collected the price, it was a great feeling.
02:47Behind the car was a 30-member team divided into seven specialized teams.
02:53Each handling a different piece of the challenge.
02:56From design and fabrication.
02:58To testing and performance.
03:00Guided by faculty advisor Dr. Somag Tatta.
03:03The project has become a hands-on lesson in engineering.
03:07Teamwork and problem solving.
03:09The kind of learning that moves beyond textbooks.
03:12And into the world of competition.
03:15I have been associated with this team for a long time.
03:18And I have seen that how much they worked.
03:21Day and night.
03:22And how much they are passionate about their vehicle.
03:27So I encourage all the students to be a part of this kind of activities.
03:32Which are apart from their regular academic activities.
03:35These are their co-curricular activities they participate in.
03:38And teams region is doing extremely well in different competitions as well.
03:43A race car may have been the final product.
03:46But the real journey happened long before it reached the track.
03:51For team Sweden, months of ideas, calculations, fabrication and testing have now translated into a national podium finish.
04:07So we do want to see from the past.
