00:00More than 4,000 disabled people in Newcastle could see changes to their council tax support.
00:06The council is consulting on proposals that would change how benefits and savings are
00:12counted when support is assessed. One change would disregard part of universal credit for
00:18disabled people who moved from employment and support allowance. Another would raise
00:24the savings limit from £6,000 to £8,000. Further changes could affect households receiving
00:30carer's allowance or support for disabled children. The council says the proposals could add £1.35
00:38million a year to the cost of the scheme. Decisions will follow the consultation process.
