03:26I have not attended many or any such gatherings, but I'm very happy to be with you all today

03:40As an actor, you have seen and I have performed, you have seen some of the snippets.
03:53First, I grew up in an ashram and a mutt in my childhood up to 12 years.
03:59Thereafter, I was sent to Mumbai, where I got a chance to act in a play, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu,
04:12the saint poet of Bengal.
04:15And that's all, and that's how my career, as a career, I wouldn't say career, then nobody
04:21had an idea of what will happen in the future, etc.
04:28But I knew a line from Adi Shankaracharya's Bhajagovindam, which I had studied in the mutt,
04:40which said, udara nimittam bahukrutavesham, udara means the stomach, belly.
05:00The same kind of thought was in a saint, in a line from saint poet, Kanakdasa of Karnataka,
05:11yallaru madu odu hotte gagi, genu batte gagi, meaning to earn a livelihood and fill their
05:18billies, many a people who wear any, all kinds of facades and masks, hotte gagi, billies,
05:28genu batte gagi.
05:33And I featured in a Karuna film also by that name, hattek gagi, genu batte gagi.
05:41Then I have seen that people have been using this, paapi peyt ke liye, kete hai sab, paapi
05:51peyt ke liye, thereafter my career started as an actor, bahukurta vesham, in about five
06:00years I acted in about 50 plays, different plays, which was my training ground for acting
06:12as such, thereafter I was called to do, play some roles in cinema, first in Kannada, then
06:24in Hindi with Shyam Benegal and such others and MS Satyu and so many others, but I preferred
06:33to, although I did act in many a Hindi film, I, the atmosphere for new wave films, art films
06:45or regular commercial films and all and my opportunities in Karnataka were great, so I said, let me go
06:56to Bangalore and settle down there, which became my karma bhoomi, so in the last 50 years, I was
07:10invited to do many films in other languages also, I went there as an ambassador of Karnataka, because
07:21those people had lot, lot of regard for my acting talent, so I, as you have seen, I did many
07:29films
07:30in other languages also, but I had the greatest of opportunities and were from in Karnataka,
07:38in my Karnataka films, last year, I had the good fortune of receiving the Padma Bhushan Award at the
07:57magical hands of our dear President, Srimati Murmoji, and this time again, I am very lucky,
08:08I feel very, very lucky to and fortunate to have got this, so I mean, that's supposed to be
08:18the highest, the highest award in films, the Dada Sahib Halki Award, again at the, for a second
08:26time at the hands of Srimati Murmoji, and I am very grateful, at this point, I would like
08:37to remember, and it's all the people who are with me, who have been with me, throughout
09:02these 50, 55 years of being an actor, this award does not belong to me alone, it also belongs
09:12to every product, producer, director, dialogue writers, songwriters, directors of cinematography,
09:22costumes, makeup, production managers, girls and boys and associates, assistant directors,
09:30directors, who have worked with me, tirelessly, the award belongs to millions of people, who have
09:42opened their hearts and minds, to my characters, over the last, five and a half decades, so finally I would
09:54just try to, before I conclude, I would again, quote, Shri Adi Shankaracharya, who said,
