03:04it's a great honor to be here with you and I'm trying to digest the majesty of this function.
03:26I have not attended many or any such gatherings,
03:34but I'm very happy to be with you all today here.
03:40As an actor, you have seen, and I have performed, you have seen some of the snippets.
03:53I grew up in an ashram and a mutt in my childhood up to 12 years.
03:59Thereafter, I was sent to Mumbai, where I got a chance to act in a play.
04:11Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the saint poet of Bengal,
04:15and that's how my career started as a career.
04:20I wouldn't say career, then nobody had an idea of what will happen in the future, etc.
04:27But I knew a line from Adi Shankaracharya's Bhajagovindam,

05:59In about five years I acted in about 50 plays, different plays,
06:08which was my training ground for acting as such.

06:22First in Kannada, then in Hindi with Shyam Benegal and such others
06:28and M.S. Satyu and so many others.
06:31But I preferred to, although I did act in many Hindi films,
06:38the atmosphere for new wave films, art films, or regular commercial films and all.
06:48And my opportunities in Karnataka were great.
06:52So I said, let me go to Bangalore and settle down there, which became my karma bhoomi.
07:03So, in the last 50 years, I was invited to do many films in other languages also.
07:14I went there as an ambassador of Karnataka, because those people had lot lot of regard for my acting talent.
07:26So I, as you have seen, I did many films in other languages also.
07:33But I had the greatest of opportunities and were from in Karnataka, in my Karnataka films.
07:45Last year, I had the good fortune of receiving the Padma Bhushan Award at the magical hands of our dear
07:58President,
08:00Srimati Murmuji.
08:03And this time again, I am very lucky, I feel very, very lucky to and fortunate to have got this.
08:16So I mean, that's supposed to be the highest award in films.
08:22This is the Dada Sahib Haliki Award, again at the, for a second time at the hands of Srimati Murmuji.
08:30And I am very grateful at this point.
08:33And I would like to remember,
08:56And you, sir, all the people who are with me, who have been with me, throughout these 50-55 years
09:04of being an actor,
09:07this award does not belong to me alone.
09:10It also belongs to every product producer, director, dialogue writers, songwriters, directors of cinematography,
09:22costumes, makeup, production managers, girls and boys and associates, assistant directors, associate directors,
09:32who have worked with me tirelessly.
09:37The award belongs to millions of people who have opened their hearts and minds to my characters over the last
09:46five and a half decades.
09:53So finally, I would just like to, before I conclude, I would again, quote,
