00:11decision about where she would be laid to rest. Instead of a public burial, Diana was buried on
00:16a small island at Althorp, the Spencer family estate where she had spent part of her childhood.
00:21The island sits in the middle of an oval lake, separated from the rest of the grounds by water.
00:26There are no bridges, and access has traditionally been kept private for the Spencer family.
00:31Her brother, Charles Spencer, personally oversaw the memorial site, with 36 oak trees planted
00:37around the lake, one for every year of Diana's life. Today, visitors to Althorp can follow a
00:43dedicated memorial path through the estate, but the island itself remains secluded, visible from
00:49across the water. For a woman whose every movement had once been watched by millions, her final resting
