00:0926th, following a 150-meter-long landslide in the Bukit Sim Sim area on Saturday.
00:15Sandakan District Disaster Management Committee Chairman Datuk Walter Kenson said the closure was a precautionary measure to ensure public safety,
00:24although the landslide, which occurred at about 9.05pm, did not affect the road.
00:29He said the hiking trail in the area had also been closed after observations showed that the landslide site required
00:35further safety assessment, particularly in the event of continued rain, that could trigger further soil movement.
00:41Walter, who is also Sandakan Municipal Council President, said the Public Works Department's Slope Branch would continue monitoring the site
00:49for any movement or changes in soil structure.
