00:24is being pulled deeper into the U.S. war machine.

00:27General Motors is stepping into the Patriot missile supply chain, with GM Defense producing

00:39But GM is not building complete missiles.

00:43Instead, the company is supplying critical structural components used to form the outer

00:48housing of the advanced Patriot interceptor.

00:51And the speed of the first delivery has caught attention.

00:54Lockheed Martin and GM Defense signed their production contract on August 6th.

01:01Just 22 days later, on August 28th, GM delivered its first batch of components.

01:07Lockheed says parts that traditionally take months or even longer were produced and delivered

01:13in just three weeks.

01:14The move comes as the United States pushes to dramatically expand Patriot interceptor

01:20production.

01:21Lockheed produced roughly 600 PAC-3 MSE interceptors in a year.

01:27But the target is now around 2,000 annually by the end of 2030.

01:32Why the urgency?

01:33The United States has been consuming large numbers of advanced air defense interceptors amid support

01:40for Ukraine and the conflict involving Iran.

01:43And replacing those missiles is not easy.

01:47A single PAC-3 MSE interceptor costs more than $4 million, while the full production and

01:54delivery cycle can take more than two years.

01:57That makes the supply chain a major battlefield of its own.

02:01Lockheed is investing billions of dollars to expand munitions production, while bringing

02:07in additional suppliers and manufacturers to eliminate bottlenecks.

02:11GM's involvement is part of that wider effort, bringing the speed, scale, and manufacturing capacity

02:18of America's commercial industrial base into defense production.

02:22The message from Washington is clear.

02:25The Pentagon wants thousands more Patriot interceptors.

02:29But getting there will depend not only on missiles, it will depend on whether America can build

02:34the industrial capacity to produce them fast enough.
