00:09We've been very dependent on the United States, deeply integrated, exceedingly so since NAFTA in the 90s really has pushed
00:18us into a situation where we're vulnerable and that has been exploited.
00:22So for us in Europe we need to be taking advantage of, while we've got partners and friends who are
00:29democratically aligned, who share many of the same values and cultural traditions, although Canada is even more diverse than Europe
00:38certainly in terms of our cultural diversity.
00:41So we have a lot to contribute and we know the North Pole, we need Arctic sovereignty and perhaps they
00:48can help us.
00:49We want to work with people who are interested in working with us and that's what Europe is all about.
00:55I saw Carney was in the European Parliament today, very impressive, you know, he's getting standing ovations wherever he goes,
01:03there's a reason.
01:04He's really qualified, it's very rare for us to have a Prime Minister that qualified, to be honest, so yeah,
01:11it's good.
01:17I think it's great to develop trade relationships with other countries and other parts of the world.
01:22I think we're a little bit behind in developing some of our natural resources to offer these products to sell
01:27to them.
01:27I think that they would love to have our products if we were able to deliver them, like natural gas
01:31across the Atlantic.
01:33I think time will tell if we can unlock these resources and develop a way to ship them there.
01:39I think that'll be a great diversification of our trade.
01:43However, I think there'll be a few years until we see any actual development on these fronts.
01:52I think that it is a good move. I am a big supporter of being in global connection.
01:58And I'm also not against Americans, I think I'm just against Trump's policy.
02:03But I think that the more globally connected you are, the more better you will be as a country.
02:13Because obviously I'm British and I think the fact that he's making us an associate member of the EU, I
02:18think that's a really positive thing.
02:25So I think this looks like theoretically okay, but practically it is not okay because Canada wants to export its
02:35lumber and other minerals and so many other things.
02:38If you try to export those items into Europe, those will definitely be more expensive for European people.
02:46To export the US is better. So they should be trying, they should be trying to improve relations with the
02:55US rather than trying to go far away.
