George MacKay chats to us at the Sense and Sensibility World Premiere about taking on the role of Edward Ferrars and whether he deliberately stayed away from Hugh Grant’s much-loved version.

He also tells us what his character's dating bio would say (apparently he loves a good walk), he gives his verdict on whether Jane Austen really understood love and asks why we’re all so attracted to red flags instead of green ones.

Plus, George talks about the honour of joining Sense and Sensibility and getting to work alongside such an incredible cast.

00:00I don't know it doesn't make sense to me you tell me I feel like I want you to
00:05dance for me or something with his jacket on like it's getting a lot of love
00:14yes yes I don't know I don't know how I'd fare on a dating website so I think
00:23he'd probably do his best I think you'd have good sort of good banter to start
00:26with because he's got good chat to begin with and then obviously he hits a
00:29hurdle of silence so I feel like potentially good banter to begin with
00:34and then an insecure ghost likes walking I think he's a big walker doesn't have a
00:45barouche as he says there so yeah lots of walking dates I think first dates would
00:50be coffees in the park and a long walk yeah we're comfy shoes yeah yeah so what
00:55about Jane Austen did she get love right do you think I don't know I think she
01:01got she got people I haven't read enough of all of her work to really have a
01:05strong you know a strong answer but from sense and sensibility I think within that
01:11within the book she's so articulately sort of gives access to people's inner
01:17thoughts and many different types of people's inner thoughts so I think she
01:21got people whether that leads to knowing love I don't know but she got people for
01:25sure and previously everything played by quite famous guy did you decide to be a
01:29really did you have it in your mind he would be different I haven't seen his
01:34version and I chose not to watch his version so that I didn't get too hung up
01:38on either trying to impersonate the best bits or avoid bits for the sake of
01:40avoiding them so I just thought I'd welcome the fact that I didn't know his
01:45version and and leave it at that and what is it about girls liking the old red flag over the
01:49green flag what's that about I don't know it doesn't make sense to me you tell
01:53me I'm just a nice guy I know just stick with the greens it makes things smoother I
01:58think just find out you enjoying yourself and these are roles that you want to do
02:01yeah I mean it feels such a like honor to be part of a film like this you know
02:05with this with this team as much as much as anything with Georgia helming this
02:09this script that Diana Reed has written you know with days with Esme Frank Herbert
02:13Bodie it's such a special team Fiona you know it's regardless of the roles I want to be
02:18around these teams you know it's like it's like playing in the Champions League
02:21you know you want to play with the best players and this is it so I'm thrilled
02:25unless you're a Tottenham fan things are pretty dire yeah yeah yeah don't mention it is that you
02:29yeah okay good luck thank you very much indeed George so nice to see you cheers thank you so much
02:33nice to see you cheers thank you cheers thanks
