00:00Mikel Arteta has hit out at VAR after Sunderland were awarded a controversial penalty against Arsenal during the Gunners' 2
00:10-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.
00:13David Raya subsequently saved Enzo Le Fay's spot kick, keeping Arsenal level. The Gunners then went on to win the
00:21game.
00:22After the game, though, manager Mikel Arteta made his frustrations clear. Here is what he had to say.
00:29Look, the first question that we have to discuss is, and this is not acceptable at this level, because it
00:34was a beautiful game of football with two teams, with an atmosphere in this team.
00:39It was unbelievable. With Sunderland, they are so well organised. They are so good in so many phases. They have
00:44great players. They create a lot of issues.
00:47We have to go with all of that. It was a lot in a really difficult week after Chelsea and
00:51Napoli.
00:52And on top of that, we have to go through what we've done today that, in my opinion, is not
00:57acceptable.
00:58And I watched it 20 times, and I cannot find a way to understand how even think to give a
01:05penalty in that situation or the way the VAR has to intervene.
01:10So I don't know what to think, really. But I'm sad that we have to discuss in such a beautiful
01:16game something at this level that has the gravity of that,
01:20because that changes the course of the season, and it can cause you the championship.
01:24And at this level, with all the work that we put in, this cannot happen.
