00:08because these pictures have gone viral of a girl getting hit in Gurgaon.

00:13Please share with us the incidents that you face on a daily basis
00:16as a woman rider.
00:19Hi, hi, hello.
00:20Yeah, I'm glad that her camera was on.
00:23And that's the reason we have a footage.
00:25And that footage can be shown now in the channel.
00:28But...
00:30To you guys' surprise, this is what we face
00:33any time we get on a motorcycle and ride.
00:37And plenty of time, I've been stopped on the road.
00:40They came, they gave me a hand gesture for me to stop
00:43and maybe for the simple reason of they want to click a photo.
00:47And what you saw in the video of Sia,
00:50the clear thing was when the man ego is hurt.
00:56And like a couple of times, he asked her to stop,
00:59come get closer, trying to make a conversation.
01:02But she was ignoring.
01:04And the only thing that he wanted to do is to give it back to her
01:07and hit the motorcycle with it.
01:10And I faced a similar thing on a road.
01:14Being many times that there'd be not only one car, two cars.
01:19And I came back a couple of days ago from the dock.
01:21And I had my camera on as well.
01:25And the car which was chasing me, unfortunately, had no number plate.
01:30And that was extremely scary because two young guys on SUV, no number plate.
01:37And I was trying to record it on my camera as well.
01:40And that was how you want to follow up and find that car because there is no number plate.
01:45But these are the thing that we have no control on a road.
01:50And of course, with going viral on this video and everybody is stepping in,
01:55news channel is stepping in.
01:57And I'm very thankful to all of them and the police.
02:00And I'm 100% sure you're going to arrest this guy and make an example.
02:04But the other side, which is very, very important, is what we have control on,
02:09which a couple of our rider friends already mentioned that.
02:13Please be fully geared because it doesn't matter if you want to go and have coffee and come back
02:20or you need to have gear because I'm sure she got bruises and everything's on a motorcycle,
02:27riding it with just a small hit.
02:30It can be our life.

02:34I'm going to pick some of those points that she said.

02:37That is one thing.
02:38But I think the biggest point she makes about is the male ego.
02:41And the other thing, a car, she gave a personal example,
02:44a car chasing an SUV without even a number plate.
02:48Urvashi, please narrate an incident or two from your journey as well.
02:52I'm sure you had instances of, you know, car drivers there trying to harass you, car drivers

03:03I must also share with you that in my ride to your lay, I also did notice a couple of
03:07cars being driven without a number plate.
03:09That's the other perennial problem that you have.
03:10How do you track those guys down?
03:12Even if you catch it, how do you track them down without a number plate?
03:14Urvashi, could you share a few instances with us?
03:17Because that will help us highlight the issue that women riders face on Indian roads.
03:23Absolutely.
03:24And, you know, I echo to what Maral was just mentioning.
03:27First and foremost is that you need to gear up.
03:29And it just, you know, helps you in terms of your own safety.
03:32But also then what happens that, and this has been a very personal, you know, experience
03:38that it also helps that nobody really even gauges that you are a female or a male rider.
03:43Because like I said, it's very unfortunate at this age and day
03:46that, you know, we still have to be so worried about where we've entered something which
03:51is a very male-dominated field, yet we have to fend for ourselves every now and then.
03:55So, you know, for me, honestly, getting up was also one that nobody even recognizes whether
03:59I'm a male or a female rider.
04:01That's one.
04:01Secondly, I also face the moment if anybody recognizes, everybody would want to, you know,
04:06go a little back and forth, want to wave hands at you.
04:09And as much as we would want to be as amicable and reciprocate maybe, you know, a wave to
04:15somebody.
04:15But then there is always apprehension, you know, what the thereafter the response would
04:19be.
04:20Because again, it's not that we want to encourage anybody for any wrongdoings, right?
