00:00Well, day two of US President Donald Trump's visit to Ireland
00:03very much underway with a heavy focus on golf.
00:06He is down in his golf club in County Clare
00:08where he's watching the Irish Open golf tournament.
00:11He'll present the winner with the trophy later on this evening.
00:14He'll be accompanied also by Irish Prime Minister,
00:17Taoiseach Milhor Martin.
00:18Yesterday he had a whole day of events,
00:20in particular at the US Ambassadors Residence,
00:22which is just behind me,
00:23where he gave a wide-ranging speech
00:25but very much pressed home on his desire
00:27to see the unification of Northern Ireland with the Irish state.
00:31This is something that was largely put to bed in 1998
00:34with the Good Friday Agreement,
00:36but Irish government sources have said
00:37that this is something that Donald Trump
00:38frequently brings up with the Irish government
00:40and he's the one who introduced this conversation.
00:43He believes that it's a merger
00:45that he thinks will be much more logical.
00:47Of course, the UK government does not agree
00:50and we know that the Irish Taoiseach will speak to Andy Burnham,
00:53the UK Prime Minister, later in this week.
00:55Donald Trump also updated the government
00:57in relation to talks between the Ukrainians and the Russians
01:00and the peace efforts there,
01:02saying that there is some progress.
01:04He also said he hoped that the war in Iran would end soon.
01:07He spoke to press about that
01:08and the Irish government did also respond to him
01:11in relation to his comments about immigration,
01:14where he said that immigration,
01:15or too much immigration, was killing Europe.
01:17The Irish government said that immigration is down in Ireland
01:20and also he said that he would return here
01:23potentially next year.
