Joe root spoke ahead of the third test.
Transcript
00:00It's been a great start to life as captain for Joe Root during his second stint with the armband.
00:06England are hosting Pakistan. They're already 2-0 up in the series.
00:10The first test victory actually came at Joe Root's home ground, Headingley.
00:15They took a 1-0 lead in the series to Lourdes in London, where they then won again, taking the
00:23series lead 2-0.
00:24Now they head into their third and final test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
00:30And Joe Root will be hoping for a clean sweep against Pakistan.
00:34Here is what the captain had to say.
00:37Hi Joe, 2-0 up, 1 to play. What have you said to the guys ahead of this one to
00:41ensure the foot doesn't come off the gas?
00:43More of the same, more than anything.
00:45I think one thing that we've done well in the first two games is adapt to what's in front of
00:49us.
00:49And we'll be presented with a completely different set of circumstances this time round.
00:53Looks like a different squad that we're going to be playing against.
00:56So making sure that we're across that and we're ready for what they're going to hit us with.
01:00And also what the surface is going to provide.
01:04Seen two lively surfaces so far in this series.
01:07We might get something similar, we might not.
01:09Hopefully not, but we'll see how things develop throughout the week.
01:13You mentioned the Pakistan squad.
01:14What have you made of the turmoil that's gone on this week?
01:18And does it make it difficult to know what's going to come?
01:20We're just looking after ourselves, to be honest.
01:23Trying to get across the guys that have come into the squad, make sure we're ready for how they're likely
01:29to play,
01:29how we can counter that, both with bat and ball and look after our own house.
01:33We've had enough to deal with ourselves over the last little while.
01:35So just keep preparing well, making sure that we're fresh, we're ready to go.
01:42And we take that confidence forward into the next five days.
01:45Your own house is looking pretty tidy at the moment.
01:47How have you found these first two tests of your second tenure?
01:51What have you learned?
01:52What's pleased you the most?
01:55I'd say, albeit we've had conditions in our favour with ball in hand, we've been excellent.
02:02We've been pretty ruthless in that respect.
02:03And for almost, although they've all played before, for them to work together as well as they have done across
02:10the two games,
02:11as a collective, it's been outstanding.
02:13And it's another opportunity to do that again.
02:15And, you know, if the conditions aren't the same, can we find a different way of taking 20 wickets?
02:20Can we find a different way of being effective to dovetail well with each other?
02:25And similarly, with bat in hand, adapt to what's in front of us.
02:30You want to be successful around the world, you're going to have to be good in all different kinds of
02:33conditions and different situations.
02:35And I think across the games, obviously, in terms of numbers, it might not be massive numbers like you'd want
02:42them to be.
02:42But in the context of things, I think we've played some brilliant innings and had some vital partnerships,
02:48which is sort of what you want to trend towards.
02:51So a lot of really good things is just doing it over and over again now and making it, trying
02:57to make it a habit.
02:59You
