Today, Thursday 12th November 2009 around 200,000 people around the world came together to attempt a wide range of records in celebration of the fifth annual Guinness World Records Day. The global event attracted record breakers from every continent who strove to make their mark in the famous book, which is currently enjoying the number 1 spot in the official UK top 50 chart.
From the wondrous and weird, to the sublime and downright silly, this year’s Guinness World Records Day featured events such as The Most People to Hug for 1 Minute and the Furthest distance to pull a double decker bus by the hair in London, the Longest Bicycle Jump in Italy and the Largest cheerleading dance in the USA.
