03:48There are some men who are born to be legends,
03:50and there are some men who are born just to walk alongside them.
03:55David Finlay was born of four savage generations of fighting Finlay's to the name.
04:02But for Yuya Uemura, the difference between legendary status and just another professional wrestler is the difference between being a
04:12G1 Primax champion and not.
04:22Ten points on the board for Yuya Uemura.
04:26Our main event tonight is settled.
04:28Win and you are in to the blockade playoffs.
04:44And right out of the gates here Hartley, by far and away the biggest match of Yuya Uemura's career to
04:51date.
04:51Oh, definitely.
04:53A little on the line for this one.
05:02A little on the line for this one.
05:16The bell sounds, we're underway.
05:18It's a one-fault 30-minute time limit and a matchup that we have seen not once, not twice, but
05:24three times before.
05:25All the way back before David Finlay was even a thought in Bullet Club.
05:29And Yuya Uemura was a twinkle in the eye of an excursion to earlier on in this year's New Japan
05:36Cup.
05:36And it is a one-and-two singles record between these two men.
05:39That, too, is going to favor David Finlay.
05:41But push comes to shove post-excursion for Uemura.
05:45We're 50-50 tied.
05:46And that rubber match comes right here in the main event tonight.
05:56You know, you and I talked earlier on in the evening when Oya was in singles competition
06:00about that fundamentally sound 20-minute Corican Hall semi-main event between himself and Uemura.
06:07Uemura is going to want to try that against David Finlay here tonight.
06:10Is the strategy for Finlay to keep Yuya Uemura from getting down into that ground game?
06:16Yeah, I think so.
06:17And Finlay has that skill anyway to take him on.
06:22Pound for pound, one of the strongest wrestlers in the game today.
06:25Yeah, unbelievable, Finlay.
06:28A very, very rocky start to this year's tournament was David Finlay.
06:33New Japan Cup winner in the year of 2025.
06:35Hopes to do something still that no one has ever done before.
06:39That is when New Japan Cup and G1 Climax in the same calendar year.
06:44Still with an opportunity, Finlay has to do that.
06:46But he has been calling it the comeback of the millennia.
06:50Comeback of the century.
06:51The greatest G1 Climax comeback in history for David Finlay.
06:57Winning out his last three singles matches.
07:00A fourth singles match will potentially settle that in for Finlay as the greatest G1 Climax comeback ever before.
07:07But to crown that, you have to win the tournament overall.
07:18Uemura and Finlay keep an hold all the way to the outside now.
07:22And this is where David Finlay has to push Uemura outside of his comfort zone.
07:27Uemura is not the same kid that Finlay faced off against back in Garland, Texas in 2021 on a YouTube
07:33exclusive show.
07:34This is a very, very different man that steps into our main event tonight.
07:39And David Finlay might walk out a very different man the same way after that rough, rough shoulder impact.
07:53I'll tell you right now, this is a conversation that we had whenever David Finlay faced off against Yota Tsuji.
07:59Tsuji was really struggling with his left shoulder, I believe it was, throughout that matchup.
08:04And it was just off of the effect of a chop from Tsuji that Finlay was feeling.
08:10With his target now on the left side, that left shoulder, that was a previously torn shoulder on David Finlay
08:17back, I believe, 2019 it was.
08:19David Finlay tore that shoulder completely away from the other.
08:25And Uemura going to have to do everything he can to try and target in on that tonight.
08:31Finlay whipped into the corner.
08:35And up over the top.
08:38Bam, Uemura.
08:39No, no, right to the outside.
08:43And we are getting the hard blow started very early, and that's the way that David Finlay is going to
08:48want it.
08:53And he's going to want it.
08:55Yeah, hold that.
08:57No, no, no, no.
09:00No, no, no, no.
09:01What?
09:02No outside.
09:02He's coming up.
09:04No, no, no, no, no, no.
09:05He's here.
09:06I'm okay?
09:14All right.
09:15Okay.
09:16Yota Suji and Evil are guaranteed positions in the Block A playoff.
09:20These two men battle for the final spot tonight.
09:23As a kick out from Uemura at the count of one, says Referee Red Shoes.
09:28A very, very important point being brought to me by our statisticians over at NJPW Global on all social media.
09:34If it is a draw tonight between David Finlay and Yuya Uemura, it is indeed Uemura that ends up going
09:41through based off of this singles matchup.
09:44So, for what it's worth, Hartley, David Finlay has to beat Uemura.
09:48Uemura doesn't have to beat David Finlay.
09:50He just has to outlast David Finlay.
09:58It is very, very hard to outlast a man that can dish this damage out within a five-minute period
10:05that has already taken place.
10:08Finlay full cover here and not enough to put Uemura down.
10:15For every single impressive victory Finlay has had in this tournament, Uemura has had one as well.
10:21Victories over men like Cal Newman, Evil, the ace of the universe, Hiroshi Tanahashi.
10:26Finlay couldn't put Tanahashi down, but Uemura could.
10:29He gives up.
10:30He gives up.
10:32He gives up.
10:32Come on.
10:34What you got to do now?
10:34That is why Uemura sits on 10 points, David Finlay sits on eight.
10:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:39Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:41Yeah, yeah.
10:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:46Come on.
10:47Come on, Frank.
10:47Come on, Frank.
10:48Come on.
10:49Come on, come on.
10:50Come on, come on.
10:52Come on, Yuya.
10:53If David Finlay wins tonight, he guarantees himself a block final match against Yota Tsuji.
11:00If Uemura wins here tonight, he guarantees himself a semi-main event spot.
11:05That is one match skipped in the block playoffs and a beautiful place to be in.
11:09But for right now, it is Yuya Uemura who takes it to the bottom rope.
11:26Come on, Yuya.
11:29Come on, Yuya.
11:31Come on, Yuya.
11:34These two men's bodies hardly are damaged beyond repair in a lot of different ways.
11:40David Finlay and Yuya have gone through the ringer in this year's tournament already.
11:45and they are fighting for the opportunity to fight even more.
11:49That is the heart that these two men have as professional wrestlers.
12:00Finn in the spring orbit 184 years old вообще.
12:08Ahh.
12:08Yeah.
12:11Yeah.
12:11Yeah.
12:12Yeah.
12:12the time Cody Smith.
12:13It's a little more of now.
12:14This is exactly where Yuya gets comfortable at.
12:17Drop kick, drop kick, arm drag.
12:20These fundamental strikes and holds
12:24cultivated out of the no-gay dojo.
12:28That is a system David Finlay is very familiar with in his own right.
12:31But a very different tactic taken for Finlay throughout this tournament.
12:35Relying a lot more on the power game than on technique.
12:38A little more doing both here.
12:39Finlay back on his feet though.
12:41Watch now.
12:42And Yuya back on the feet as well.
12:46Capturing the back suplex for it.
12:49Lamora floats over on the cover for the win.
12:52And it's still two.
12:58A notable misstep there out of Yuya Lamora.
13:02Floated over on that cover.
13:04Typically likes to take control of that arm off of the kick out from his opponents.
13:08Forgot to do so there.
13:10And now the gears are turning to figure out where we go next.
13:18It's been so impressive to see.
13:21The way that these men have been able to string these points together.
13:25Yuya Lamora, it doesn't have to be flashy.
13:28It just has to be effective.
13:30There are very few more effective in the younger generation than you will find in Yuya Lamora.
13:49You talked about the ace earlier.
13:52Yuya Lamora really inspired by a lot of the ace's maneuvers.
13:55From that high fly flow, the high fly attack can soon to come maybe.
13:58That dragon suplex is not going to come anytime soon.
14:01We're down to the outside, Hartley.
14:04Yuya Lamora, you're smashing your shin on the apron.
14:22And now David Finley has something in mind here.
14:24We have a sold out crowd tonight in Gunma.
14:27And certainly you're going to get a good look of it if David Finley can complete what he has in
14:32mind.
14:34No, no, no, no, wait a minute, wait a minute, Finley, Finley, straight power, oh, into the post.
14:50And that is the strength of the Rebel Savior.
14:53Yes, yes, yes.
14:59You're going to hear Giddle barking on at ringside.
15:03Ten minutes have passed and Yuya Lamora in a world of pain.
15:07David Finley is not above taking a count out victory tonight, Hartley.
15:12Definitely not by any means necessary.
15:15Six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
15:23Seven, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen.
15:35Down to 17 now and Yuya Lamora got to feel the urgency here back inside the ring.
15:41And Yuya with a save.
15:46David Finley said it in post-match comments a number of nights ago.
15:49No, I came this close to becoming G1 Primax winner last year.
15:55I will not be stopped in 2025.
16:00And right now, Finley looking to continue proving quick on his promise.
16:05If you give up, it'll all be over.
16:07You catch the Shinkansen home.
16:12Yeah, we laugh at that, Hartley.
16:14But that is certainly the personality of David Finley.
16:19Come on, Yuya.
16:20Come on, Yuya.
16:22Come on, Yuya.
16:23Come on, Yuya.
16:23It is mockery.
16:24It is defiance.
16:26But even so, Yuya Lamora will have enough to continue going.
16:37Wait a minute, wait a minute, Finley, Northern Irish Curse, David Finley with the cover.
16:43And it's only two.
16:50Those moments of explosion there, Hartley, from David Finley.
16:53The sudden shock with the Irish Curse backbreaker.
16:57That right there is a cause for concern when it comes to Yuya Lamora's longevity here.
17:07Finley now.
17:09The winner will take the final spot in the Block A playoff.
17:12Oh, no.
17:13Oh, no, no, no, no.
17:15Oh, gosh.
17:15That's the outside.
17:16Unbelievable.
17:21David Finley was certainly seeing the danger coming.
17:26Later on down the road for Yuya Lamora went for a career-ending shot.
17:31And luckily for Lamora, not just saving his G1, saving the rest of his life.
17:37One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
17:50And Yuya Lamora, wait a minute.
17:53Let's go big or go home, my friend.
17:56The heat storm, lower spine in pain and all.
17:59Watch out now.
18:01High fly attack.
18:09Good job, man.
18:11Come on.
18:12Come on.
18:13You wanna walk around?
18:15You got it?
18:16You okay?
18:17All right.
18:18Come on.
18:19You're gonna look down here.
18:21You're gonna look down here.
18:22Go.
18:22Look at him.
18:23These men are in a disgusting way right now.
18:27Two.
18:28Two.
18:30For all that Yuya Lamora represents, all that Yuya Lamora wants to become.
18:34The shining light in professional wrestling, the heat storm of NJPW.
18:41You have to overcome the darkness in your path, and David Finley is a spot darker than most.
18:48Nope.
18:51Yes!
18:52No.
18:53No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
18:54No.
18:57Jupiter warning.
18:58Again.
19:00It's not just about how well you can execute, it's also that stubbornness that Uehlmora has.
19:05Sticking your guns.
19:06I want to win technically.
19:07I want to get the job done this way.
19:10That's how he did it over the oil iron cork at all, and it worked out very well for him.
19:14Non, non, non !
19:16A full extension, full extension now found, or at least he's close to it.
19:22Lumière's gotten to this point, Finlay is really starting to panic here in the middle of the ring.
19:28And closer to the bottom rope, that's gonna force a break.
19:31Béni, reac, reac.
19:50oh finlay finlay sat in deep as lamora not gonna happen though once that dragon suplex brought out
19:57german instead german suplex for the bridge lamora not enough and still holds on to the waist lock
