00:09I chose him and Kristen because I thought they were incredible.
00:13So I did not think that there was any limit to what they could do.
00:17They are amazing, you know, and of course, if anything, when the fame started building,
00:25I was a bit nervous for them because they're really cool.
00:30They're more like indie sensibility, indie music, indie literature, and everything.
00:36So I hoped that they would be able to have a good way to navigate their career,
00:42which they both have done incredible and stayed true to themselves.
00:47I mean, I think they're just more amazing than I ever thought they would be.
00:52But I did know, I think we knew as we were making the movie, people were getting more and more
00:58excited about it.
00:59And they were excited about those two when they saw them together.
01:04So, you know, and they met, I'm here in Venice, California, and they came over to my house right here
01:13and they did their first chemistry read, you know, here in my kitchen.
01:18And they first kissed each other on my bed, I'm filming it, you know, the whole thing.
01:24And, you know, I saw right then there's magic between these two.
01:28There's electricity.
01:30Would you like to watch a new version?
01:33And do you think that with a bigger budget and as you were saying with the AI
01:40and nowadays technologies, the movie would look different?
01:45A new version is always fun.
01:48We love to see a new take on something, something I think that could be really fun.
01:54I mean, I think a lot of people that like the first Twilight, you know,
02:00they felt the chemistry, the feeling, you know, the emotions a lot.
02:05Those would not be changed, I don't think.
02:08Even if you used a lot of AI, we would still want, somebody would still want to create that sexual
02:15tension,
02:16that longing, you know, the danger, all of those things.
02:20So ideally, maybe the setting could be more interesting.
02:25But then again, we went to the real trees.
02:28We went to the real forest.
02:30You know, even some beautiful AI can't, could it ever be better than a real forest?
02:40That would be a good question.
02:41Do you think that the use of AI is going to change cinema in some ways?
02:48Yes, I think it is already changing things.
02:52I mean, as many people have said, not just me, you know, Ben Affleck, many other people,
02:58it lowers the entry, you know, level, the entry barrier.
03:04For people that are not Christopher Nolan or Martin Scorsese,
03:09that cannot command a giant budget,
03:11it lets you still have your beautiful imagination that you could create something big
03:18a bigger world without so much money spent.
03:22So I think that it gives more filmmakers a chance to make movies.
03:28So that means we'll probably have, you know, more voices out there,
03:32more diverse voices, more interesting stories.
