00:00It's the peak of summer right now, we're right back in the back, in the back, back, back, back, shoot
00:06it back.
00:06There's no segue into mine, so I'm just going to have to go straight in to Top Gun Maverick, a
00:11sequel, of course, to Top Gun.
00:12A movie I actually famously did not like, so this was not on my watch list at all.
00:18Then it came out and I was blown away by just how good of a legacy sequel it was and
00:23how good of a summer blockbuster it was.
00:25Practical effects out the ass, Tom Cruise doing what he does best, risking his own life for our entertainment and
00:31what entertainment it was.
00:32It had heart, it had visuals, it had everything you want from that kind of movie.
00:37And talking about the military-industrial complex, my last pick here is going to be Michael Bay's Transformers because, oh
00:43my god, my introduction to vulgar auteurism.
00:46I was at a film camp of the summer of 2007 and everyone was doing the Michael Bay as an
00:51auteur thing back then.
00:52And we all went to see Transformers in the cinema and it was wonderful.
00:55So wonderful, in fact, that I quickly got over them killing off Jazz very dismissively at the end.
01:01There's literally a bit at the end of the movie where Optimus Prime is like, we lost Jazz.
01:04But we made friends with Shia LaBeouf, so it's all okay.
01:07And I was like, you know what, fine, Linkin Park's playing, I'm having a great time.
01:11That is the sound of the summer.
01:12Sound of the summer, what I've done, Transformers, Robots in Disguise.
01:16Sound of the summer, I'm having a great time.
