00:13Everest has been summited over 13,000 times but only five people have ever
00:19climbed the direct north face and no one in the world has ever skied it
00:30it's this huge goal of ours and to do it with somebody that you're in love with it
00:35just felt special it's really hard to leave my kids
00:41what do you guys think you want to go with us climb at 8,000 meter peak it only takes
00:45like a month to get to the top the first thing we need to do is put together the
00:51right team these Sherpas have climbed Everest 10 15 times but there's a lot
00:57more unknowns on the direct north face then why do it how many people have
01:02eaten at our dinner table who have died that might take a while I've suffered a
01:08lot of loss in my life and the mountains have always helped me keep going to be
01:13a part of sharing how Jim's been able to deal with such incredible loss it's
01:19pretty amazing that sort of emotional relationship on an expedition I think
01:24that is how we move forward this is all no fall zone there's active avalanches
01:31you have a broken leg no
01:37was there a part of this that was supposed to be fun it's the part when you get
01:41down and you tell the stories all right
01:53the higher you get in elevation there's this connection and I don't feel anywhere else
02:03even if we make it to the top I have to ski down the 9,000 foot face oh my
02:10god we love you brother
