The United States military has launched fresh strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. The action followed reports of attempts to place sea mines in the strait and the firing of missiles towards a military base in Jordan, where projectiles were intercepted. Fresh warnings have been issued that further retaliation will lead to more powerful military action. Operations are focused on securing the southern coastline of Iran to protect commercial shipping and energy corridors in the crucial maritime passage. The wider confrontation has shifted over recent months towards ensuring maritime passage through the strategic sea link, with international stakeholders seeking restoration of regular commercial shipping and stability across the trade route.

00:00And U.S. strikes Iran. Donald Trump hails the attacks.
00:04U.S. President Donald Trump has posted and I quote,
00:07the United States is, as we speak, striking Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz.
00:11The strikes are large and powerful and in retaliation for the Iranians' failed attempt
00:16at adding sea mines to the strait, which currently has no mines.
00:21They have been completely removed or detonated.
00:23And the Iranians shooting eight missiles, all successfully knocked down at a military base in Jordan.
00:29If the failed nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack,
00:33they will be hit once again at a much harder and higher level.
00:37But it will not be the biggest attack of them all that is waiting in the wings.
00:41And when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
00:46So that's the reaction from Donald Trump, who has hailed the latest strikes by the United States.
00:51In fact, he's also threatened and warned Iran that if Iran retaliates,
00:54then there will be a more powerful attack on Iran.
00:57And he claims that Iran was attempting to put mines, sea mines.
01:02And that is why the United States had to conduct these fresh strikes.
01:09My colleague Prane Upadhyay continues to stay with us.
01:12Prane, Donald Trump is hailing these latest strikes and in fact is also threatening Iran
01:17that if it retaliates, there will be more powerful attacks.
01:22In fact, he's also claimed that Iran was trying to deploy sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
01:28And hence, the United States had to carry this attack.
01:32Absolutely, Anjali.
01:33And, you know, I already mentioned the fact that, you know, that is a reason which is being given by
01:40the U.S. military.
01:41And President Donald Trump is not only the President of the United States,
01:44but also he's the Supreme Commander of the U.S. Armed Forces.
01:48So he had to, you know, to hail the military strikes of the U.S. and Com or the U
01:57.S. military against Iranian targets.
02:00And in fact, he's the one who was one of the orders for that.
02:04But the very reason why these strikes have been carried out and why this conflict has cleared up again after,
02:11you know, after almost a month.
02:14Because, you know, the last strikes were carried out by the U.S. military in July.
02:21And now, again, the U.S. military is, you know, targeting the southern coastline or the different areas of Iran.
02:30And that is the reason because, you know, U.S. wants to show that it has actually freed up the
02:38Strait of Hormuz and some kind of solution has arrived.
02:42And in fact, now it is no threat in the Strait of Hormuz because that has become a pressurifying point
02:50even for the United States.
02:52And if you see, the goal has shifted over the course of last six months, right, from the regime change
02:59to degradation of the Iranian military capabilities to the Iranian nuclear program to now the Strait of Hormuz.
03:09And now, in fact, a conflict is revolving around the opening of the Strait of Hormuz because that has become
03:14a pressure point for the United States as well.
03:16Because that is a crucial, you know, ceiling, that is a crucial trade and energy route and that remains disrupted.
03:23And other countries are also asking the United States to give some kind of a solution or get back to
03:30negotiate people to find some kind of a solution.
03:33So that the commercial shipping route is not impeded, it is not disturbed and, you know, some kind of, you
03:42know, some kind of solution should be there.
03:47So that the trade route or the commercial shipping can get back to the business as usual.
04:03But that is the reason why the US military is now carrying out these strikes, especially on the southern coastline,
04:13you know, that is the area from where the so-called threat is being posed on the ships.
04:22And, you know, laying off the sea mines possibly could be done by the Iranian side.
04:29But you see, every US strike is being retaliated by the Iranian military.
04:36And in fact, now, in the last few days, you know, Iran has struck US military races as far as
04:45Jordan.
04:46So, you know, those missiles were intercepted by the U.S. military defense systems.
04:58But still, Iran is able to fire and strike US military bases as far as Jordan.
05:04This lady shows that Iran still has its capability.
05:06All right, Pranay, thank you for those retails and for that context on the latest strikes which have been carried
05:12out by the United States
05:14and are being now hailed by the United States President also threatening Iran that if Iran retaliates for these strikes,
05:22then there will be more powerful strikes that are waiting for Iran.
