00:01Hi, I'm South Sergeant George Rivera. I work as the military working dog handler for the 647 Security Forces Order.
00:13Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam Military Working Dog Kennel is the largest joint kennel in the Department of Defense.
00:19The dogs in our kennel will bite on command with the controlled aggression training.
00:22The training helps chase, apprehend, and hold uncooperative suspects on command while our dogs maintain strict discipline.
00:28This provides a less-than-legal option for force protection.
00:32My dog's name is Carlos. He is a three-year-old German Shepherd. He's very friendly and kind.
00:39Our mission for Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam is to provide safety and security for everyone on base by conducting
00:44explosive sweeps.
00:45We also conduct missions for president and vice president.
00:50To be an effective fighting team, Carlos and I conduct baseball.
00:55What many people may not know is emotion travels down leash, which means my emotions affect Carlos.
01:00Managing my emotions keeps us the most effective we can be.
01:03Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam Military Working Dogs and their handlers stand ready to serve.
01:08Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, and you're likely to be an officer at the beginning of the day.
