Ray Nichols & His Orchestra - What A Little Moonlight Can Do

Unfortunately I found hardly any information about this trumpet player and bandeader, not to be mistaken for Red Nichols. This is an interesting recording because it is actually a little older than the world famous one by Teddy Wilson's band with Billie Holiday on vocal. The present recording was made on June 27th, 1935 and the vocal is by a vocalist totally unknown to me, A. Graff. Thanks to the valuable input by the grandson of the band's trumpet player (Murray Swingly) I could at least identify this orchestra member. It is always a thrill when family members of former band musicians step forward. This is what makes it all well worth sharing these videos...
