00:00Mia Dio, from crashing a red carpet to wearing the crown, Miss Universe Cuba 2026.
00:06She was told no once already.
00:09Last year, she stood on that same stage, fighting facial paralysis,
00:14smiling through pain the audience couldn't even see, and she still didn't win.
00:20This year, 12 months later, on August 20th, 2026,
00:25at the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center in Cutler Bay, Florida,
00:3125-year-old Mia Donadio, known online as Mia Dio,
00:36walked back onto that stage, and this time she didn't just compete.
00:40She conquered.
00:41And what happened next is go.
00:43She competed in the Miss Universe Cuba pageant while dealing with temporary facial paralysis,
00:49a condition that can affect the ability to control expressions on one side of the face.
00:55Something that, for most people, would be terrifying to deal with privately,
01:00let alone under bright stage lights in front of judges and cameras.
01:05She still fought her way into the top five.
01:08Most people would have called that a win in itself.
01:12But Mia wasn't done.
01:15Sitting on that panel was Alicia Machado, the original Miss Universe 1996 herself,
01:21alongside television personalities Carolina Sandoval and Amara Lanegra,
01:27actress Alina Robert, and influencers Alexander Otaola.
01:31And now let's talk about who Mia Dio actually is,
01:34because her story goes far deeper than one pageant night.
01:38She was born to a Cuban mother and an Argentine father,
01:42and she grew up as a content creator and influencer,
01:45one of the most powerful crowning moments the pageant has had in years.
01:50She didn't leave that stage with just the crown, either.
01:54Sponsors awarded her the sashes for Best Hair, Best Face, and Best Figure,
01:59sweeping several of the night's individual honors on top of the main title.
02:04Other standout competitors included Daniela Reyes, representing Pinar del Rio,
02:10and Lorena Suarez, representing the Central Region.
02:13And let me know who you're rooting for.
