00:00If you've ever stood in a bookstore aisle holding three different picture books,
00:03trying to figure out which one your kid will actually sit still for it, yeah, I've been there
00:07too. So I went digging, compared ratings, prices, and thousands of real reviews, and pulled together
00:13the top five English picture books for kids that are actually worth your money right now.
00:18Some of these surprised me. Let's get into it.
00:22First up is the Usborne Pop-Up Fairy Tales, The Three Little Pigs.
00:27This one's a proper 3D pop-up book, and honestly, the paper engineering is the star here,
00:32the houses literally build themselves up off the page, and when the wolf huffs and puffs,
00:36kids lose their minds. It's sitting at 4.7 stars with over 4,000 sold, which tells you something.
00:44At $133.98 it's the splurge of the group, no question. But this is a keepsake book,
00:50the kind that survives being read 300 times and still gets pulled off the shelf.
00:55If you want one showstopper gift, this is it. Now if you want the opposite end of the spectrum,
01:01check this out. The Eric Hillware Spot and Rod Campbell Deer Zoo Board Book Pair, $15.75.
01:09Fifteen bucks. These are the two books basically every English-speaking toddler grows up with,
01:15and there's a reason, thick board pages that survive teething, chunky flaps little hands can
01:19actually lift, and simple repetitive language that's perfect for 0-3. It's got the highest
01:25rating in this lineup at 4.8. If you're starting a baby's library from scratch, start here. Genuinely,
01:33nothing else gives you this much value. Next, the Pinkalicious I Can Read Phonics set 12 books for
01:39$91.56. And this one's got a perfect 5-star rating, which almost never happens. These are
01:47leveled readers, so they're built for that tricky stage where your kid is just starting to sound
01:51words out on their own. The stories are silly and pink and cupcake-filled, which sounds like fluff,
01:57but that's exactly what keeps a hesitant reader turning pages.
02:0112 books works out to about $7.50 each. For structured phonics practice that doesn't
02:06feel like homework, that's a really easy yes. Same idea, different vibe, the Pete the Cat
02:12Phonics set, also 12 books, at $86.30. Pete is that laid-back blue cat with the catchy repeating lines,
02:20and 4.9 stars from over 4,000 buyers says kids keep coming back to him.
02:25What I like here is the rhythm of the writing, it's almost musical,
02:28so kids memorize the patterns and then start recognizing the actual words.
02:33Great for boys and girls alike, and slightly cheaper than the Pinkalicious set.
02:38If you're kids between 4 and 7 and just cracking into reading, grab this one.
02:42And rounding out the list, Usborne's Peep Inside the Deep Ocean at $96.38, with a 4.9 rating.
02:50This is the non-fiction pick, and it's beautiful layered flaps and cutaways that take you deeper and
02:55deeper into the ocean, from sunlit water down to those weird glowing creatures at the bottom.
03:00The information is genuinely accurate but written simply enough for a 3 or 4-year-old.
03:05If you've got a curious kid who asks a hundred questions a day, this feeds that.
03:10It's the book that turns into a real interest later on.
03:14Alright, that's my top 5.
