Ts. Nur 'Aqilah Zainuddin, founder of Aiszzy Electronics, is on a mission to make repairs accessible - teaching people to fix appliances themselves instead of paying hundreds at repair shops.

After her mother's passing in 2021, she began sharing repair tutorials online, growing her platform from there.

Her expertise has since expanded into fashion tech, creating IoT-powered, LED-lit outfits for artists like Aina Abdul and Erra Fazira.

00:00Robot-robot, 1 tambah 2, berapa?
00:03Wah!
00:05Okay, 1 tambah 1.
00:08Okay, kasih high five.
00:11Okay, high five.
00:15Alright!
00:18When an electrical appliance breaks down,
00:20many consumers prefer sending it to a repair shop
00:23than attempting to fix it themselves.
00:25But for simple faults,
00:26consumers can end up paying hundreds of ringgit,
00:29simply because they lack the skills and tools
00:32to carry out the repairs.
00:34At IC Electronics,
00:36founder and chief executive officer,
00:38technologist Noor Akilah Zainuddin,
00:40is trying to change that.
00:41More than just an electronics store,
00:44the female-led business provides electronic components
00:47and practical support for students,
00:49hobbyists and others looking to learn,
00:52build and repair.
00:53Actually, component itu tak sampai seringgit pun
00:57kadang-kadang nak replace komponen baru
00:58untuk barang rosak itu.
01:00Contoh, capacitor.
01:01So, capacitor dekat mana?
01:03Dekat kipas kan?
01:03Kipas low.
01:04Bila kipas low itu,
01:05kita just perlu tukar capacitor sahaja.
01:09Then, in fact,
01:10it just going to take you about
01:1110 or 15 minit sahaja
01:13untuk tukar capacitor itu.
01:15Jadi,
01:16kalau kat luar sana,
01:17mungkin lah,
01:18mungkin lah,
01:18cas 200 ringgit,
01:20macam tu.
01:20So,
01:21it's better kalau you belajar sendiri
01:23but when you're able to repair by yourself,
01:26insyaAllah you boleh kurangkan e-waste
01:29dan juga boleh,
01:30apa orang cakap ni,
01:31jimat lagi daripada situ.
01:33Icy Electronics was not built overnight.
01:36Her journey began even before 2016
01:39while she was still pursuing her degree,
01:42helping friends with their final year projects from home.
01:45She gradually grew the business
01:47before eventually opening her own shop.
01:50But just as the business was gaining momentum,
01:53Akilah faced the biggest challenge of her life.
01:55Her mother passed away in early 2021.
01:59Jadi, without my mum tu senangnya,
02:02saya rasa macam gelap
02:04Icy Electronics ni.
02:05Tetapi ada satu pesanan dia yang terakhir
02:08sebelum dia pergi,
02:08dia kata teruskan
02:09these Icy Electronics for our people lah
02:12and use my hand to help others lah.
02:14April 2021.
02:16Waktu tu lah,
02:17saya start buat
02:18share macam mana nak baiki kipas semua tu,
02:22baiki apa lagi,
02:24baiki periuk nasi semua tu,
02:26dari situ lah dapat gain views.
02:28Today,
02:29the Electrical Engineering Masters graduate
02:31from University Technology Mara,
02:34UITM,
02:35has taken her expertise beyond the workshop
02:37and into the world of fashion and entertainment.
02:41In 2023,
02:43Icy Electronics teamed up with fashion designer
02:45Zaimi Zulkafli and singer Aina Abdul
02:48to create a specialized smoking garment
02:51for Aina's performance
02:52at the 38th Anugara Juara Lagu.
02:56Projek yang bersama dengan artis Malaysia sebenarnya,
03:01which is Aina Abdul tu lah.
03:03Sebab waktu tu,
03:03kita kan biasa
03:04buat projek ni dekat lab,
03:06betul tak?
03:07Jadi,
03:08bila kita dah buat pada lab tu,
03:10tiba-tiba
03:10from lab,
03:11dekat atas stage,
03:13it feels different.
03:14Sebab dekat atas stage tu,
03:16kita need to consider banyak faktor.
03:18Contohnya,
03:19risiko,
03:20faktor,
03:21semua tu,
03:22apa lagi,
03:22dan macam-macam lagi lah.
03:23So,
03:24daripada situ,
03:24saya nampak,
03:26oh, sebenarnya elektronik ni,
03:27kita boleh gabungkan
03:28bidang elektronik ni
03:29dengan bidang lain.
03:31That experience paved the way
03:33for another eye-catching creation.
03:35One of her most talked about creations
03:37was the stunning teardrop dress
03:39worn by singer and actress
03:41Eera Fazira
03:42during the Sembilu reunion concert.
03:46She brought the futuristic creation to life
03:48using Internet of Things,
03:50IoT technology,
03:52and customized LED animations.
03:54Satu projek yang besarlah
03:57untuk kita orang.
03:57Sebab apa?
03:58Kita orang gabungkan
03:59yang teknologi tu
04:00dengan bidang passion, kan?
04:01Kita boleh kontrol baju tu,
04:04bukan ni lah,
04:05dari segi LED animation tu.
04:07Kita custom sendiri,
04:08bukannya ambil LED tu pasang terus.
04:10Dia tak macam tu.
04:12LED tu beli di pasaran,
04:14and then kita programkan LED tu,
04:16animation LED tu.
04:18Dan kita kawal LED tu
04:20daripada jarak jauh,
04:21boleh guna phone.
04:22Kita menggunakan konsep IoT.
04:24Baju dia connect dengan Internet,
04:27dan phone kami pun connect dengan Internet.
04:29Jadi, we connect with the same server,
04:31and then from there,
04:32we able to control
04:34di mana-mana sahaja.
04:36Which means that,
04:37kalau kita duduk di rumah,
04:38kalau kat era tu perform dia
04:40on stage,
04:41kita boleh still control,
04:43walaupun di belakang,
04:44apa ni orang kata ni,
04:45kaca TV.
04:46But creating technology-driven fashion
04:48comes with its own set of challenges.
04:51The challenges tu,
04:52dari segi keselamatan artis tu.
04:54Sebab we need to consider
04:55the safety of the user tu.
04:58Dia tak boleh macam sebarang,
05:00nah lah,
05:01campak lah LED-LED,
05:02letak lah power,
05:03semua macam ni.
05:04Dia tak boleh macam tu.
05:05We need to consider
05:07junior current consumption-nya berapa,
05:10berapa voltage digunakan,
05:12then there is some calculation
05:13semua tu.
05:14So,
05:15safety is always number one lah.
05:17Saya ingatkan senang tau,
05:18nak integrate elektronik ni
05:20dengan baju.
05:21Rupanya payah juga.
05:22Saya pernah sekali motor tu,
05:24saya integrate dengan baju,
05:26dan saya tak tahu pun baju ni
05:27ada jenis-jenis kain yang keras semua tu.
05:30Jadi bila motor saya tu
05:31nak bergerak dengan kain tu,
05:33motor saya terbakar.
05:35After 10 years in the industry,
05:38her mission remains rooted
05:39in the same purpose
05:40that inspired her from the beginning,
05:42making technology more approachable
05:44and empowering people
05:45to understand,
05:46use and create with it.
05:48In the future,
05:50Akilah hopes to establish
05:51IC College,
05:53where young people interested
05:54in electronic engineering
05:55can gain practical skills
05:57and explore the possibilities
05:58of technology.
06:21Terima kasih.
