00:02To monitor, as I've already explained, the weather conditions, vulnerable areas of the
00:09heath, the fire, and I'm afraid again to be alert to where people who crazily decide they're
00:18going to light a barbecue, it's usually a barbecue on the heath, we need to be there
00:24and close it down, and which we've managed to do, because the risk is if one of these things
00:31gets out of control, and you've seen where we are now, this is not just one heat wave,
00:36this is a fifth heat wave, the resilience of the heath is much weakened, so the destruction
00:42could be immense.
00:44So that all has a cost, and we're bearing it, so we do ask people to be particularly mindful
00:53because we can then use those resources on things that are outside human control and
01:00be more effective.
01:02Zookeepers at Golders Hill Park Zoo at the northwest end of Hampstead Heath have been putting in
01:07place a range of measures to keep the animals cool, including feeding lemurs frozen strawberry
01:13ice cubes and Scottish wildcats frozen meat paste.
01:17I've had correspondence with the ministers of DEFRA who wrote to me after the appalling incident
01:26I referred to of people jumping in the ponds expressing their concern.
01:30I've responded to them and explained the measures we're taking, I've sought from them both policy
01:38support and financial support, and asks them what funds are available from central government
01:48for private charities such as this, providing a public service.
01:52And I'm looking forward to their response.
01:54I haven't received a response yet, but I'm looking forward.
01:57So we've reached out to the government here, which we know from the correspondence we have,
02:04has expressed a particular concern in Hampstead Heath, and so we've reached out and we've
02:10invited the ministers and their replacements now to the Heath, and if they come we would
02:17be delighted, and even more delighted, if we could receive agency support from the Environment
02:23Agency which is the lead government body, and also obviously some financial support.
02:30As a charity we're open to money from all that are accord with our ethical policies, so members
02:37of the public, central government, particularly since this is a particular emergency situation
02:44as I've said, it's an amber alert.
02:47We don't have those very often.
02:49Maybe they'll become more common, but this is, we're dealing with a particular circumstance
02:59I want you to open the spiral together again.
02:59das't 장Sonosa.
02:59Alles.
02:59and you'll find someone who seems to not eat Richard 500 JJP in there.
