00:00So you're not even being entertained. You're just exercising your thumb.
00:04In a life that is marked by breakneck speed and human beings are hardly left with any choice or opportunity
00:14to just sit back and reflect on life.
00:18I would not be too sympathetic to the condition of students.
00:26The average Indian youngster today is spending sometimes hours on social media daily.
00:35That's true.
00:35And most of that is not just unproductive, but also not even entertaining.
00:43Somebody did a study.
00:44So the average youngster scrolling on Instagram scrolls some 20 to 40 reels before he or she stops at 1.
00:55The time spent in scrolling far exceeds the time spent in actually going through that reel, that short video.
01:04So you're not even being entertained. You're just exercising your thumb.
01:09That's where the time is really going.
01:11So I'm not going to say that life is so fast paced for them that they don't have time to
01:16sit back and introspect.
01:19First thing, time is definitely available, just that it is being thoroughly wasted.
01:23Second thing, self-knowledge is not something that requires you to put in additional time.
01:29It is like the speedometer in a running car.
01:32You don't stop the car to look at the speedometer.
01:35Or do you?
01:35Would you say, now I was driving the car for so long, now I need to look at the speedometer,
01:40so let me stop the car and then look at the speedometer.
01:42It is a parallel activity.
01:45That's how self-observation happens in the middle of the activity.
01:49And it can happen only in the middle of the activity.
01:52…
01:55…
