John Krasinski is officially back in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which sees him reprise his role as the titular FBI operative. Back with Krasinski in this 2026 movie schedule entry are a few franchise veterans, including Michael Kelly and Wendell Pierce. Of course, there’s a great level of physicality to the work the actors do within this beloved franchise, so they have to stay in tip-top shape. Krasinski and Kelly recently spoke to CinemaBlend about their training regimens, and they were surprised by the fitness methods they named.

00:00I mean, full disclosure, Pilates.
00:02I mean, I knew that this was going to be a lot more action
00:05than we had done before,
00:06and I've almost always done all my stunts,
00:09for better or for worse.
00:11And this time, honestly,
00:14the thing that always hurts me the most is running,
00:16because going from a standstill to a sprint
00:19is very, very difficult if you don't know what you're doing.
00:22So stretching was weirdly the big headline for me on this.
00:25But no, I mean, the fun part about the movie, action-wise,
00:29was we really got a chance to push this,
00:32because I think the key to the movie versus the show
00:34is now that you fell in love with these characters from the show,
00:37you're able to put them in a more compressed situation
00:39and put them through more harrowing situations,
00:41whether that be interpersonal relationships and animosity
00:44or harrowing situations in the physical world, too,
00:49with car chases and shootouts outside of St. Paul's.
00:53But I think it's all because these characters you care about
00:56that these action set pieces work.
00:59And so I was thrilled to get to do it,
01:01and I was thrilled to get to see him to do more action.
01:03And I was trying to get him hurt, and it didn't work.
01:07Slight hammy.
01:08Pulled a hammy.
01:09Doing my dead sprint.
01:10Like you said, you go from that standstill.
01:13And my wife's personal trainer, yoga instructor,
01:16and I learned my base from her
01:19that I could take with me on the road when I go do these things.
01:22So I'm constantly, you know, I'm a little older now,
01:24and so I'm constantly working to try and keep myself
01:29at least preventative, you know, to not get hurt doing this shit.
01:34I'm constantly working to try and keep myself
